SUMMARY
Operates fabricating machines such as Hollow Grind, Flat Grind, Double Disc.
Using the principles of Lean Manufacturing, the operate will be responsible for inspecting parts for good quality, using measuring devices such as calipers, micrometers and visual observation. Operator will also complete machine set-up and perform minor machine maintenance.
SCHEDULE
Weekday Swing Shift: Mon. thru Thurs., 4:15 pm - 2:15 am
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The essential duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to the following-
- Reads job specification process sheets to determine the procedure required at assigned work station(s).
- Sets stops or guides to specified length as indicated by scale, rule, or template.
- Positions workpiece against stops or aligns parts in dedicated fixturing.
- Operates machinery.
- Observes machine operation to detect workpiece defects or machine malfunction.
- Changes surface preparation wheels and readjust machines when necessary.
- Measures workpiece dimensions to determine accuracy of machine operation.
- Performs minor machine maintenance such as oiling machines, dies, or workpieces.
- Responsible for keeping work area clean and safe.
- Practice 5S in the workplace.
- Ability to handle sharp knives and other items continuously throughout the shift.
- Comply with all standard safety practices, safety rules, and all Company rules and policies.
- Regular attendance is an essential function of this position.
- All other duties as assigned.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
This position will not have any supervisory responsibilities.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Basic mathematical skills, including the ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
- Ability to identify quality defects.
- Excellent communication, ability to work well with others.
- Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
- Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail.
- Ability to do highly repetitive physical work, paying attention to detail.
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as job, specification process sheets, safety rules, bill of materials, visual work instructions, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Experience reading blue prints and using micrometers and calipers is required.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
