The general schedule for this position after training is complete is Monday to Friday 2:00 PM - 11:00 PM; there will be initial day shift training for a minimum of 2 months with a schedule of Monday to Friday from 6:00 AM to 2:30 PM.

SUMMARY
The primary purpose of this position is to ensure that all policies and performance expectations are continually met in collaboration with and in the absence of the department managers. The superintendent oversees all aspects of the plant’s operations-- ensuring production runs smoothly, efficiently, and safely while maintaining quality standards. This role supervises employees in day-to-day duties and communicates information regarding employees’ performance to the respective managers. This work is performed under the general direction of the Plant Manager, but considerable latitude is granted for independent judgement and initiative.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

- Supervise, direct and/or initiate all work to be performed in collaboration with department managers and plant manager in conjunction with scheduling.
- Monitor production schedule(s), material flow and staffing levels to optimize productivity and efficiency.
- Supervise employees in day-to-day duties and responsibilities.
- Promote and embody a culture of teamwork, accountability, and continuous improvements within the various departments.
- Provide coaching to employees when necessary and support employee development initiatives.
- Address employee concerns, mediate conflicts, and properly document employee relations matters.
- Conduct employee evaluations and/or performance reviews in collaboration with department managers.
- Publish a nightly report to general manager, plant manager, all department managers and other necessary personnel that outlines production progress and any other pertinent information that will allow them to properly address issues.
- Maintain strict compliance with all safety and environmental regulations to ensure a safe work environment for all employees; enforce safety rules and regulations; adhere to the company’s process and procedures for accidents and/or injuries in the workplace; act as Safety Supervisor for emergency action plan; responsible for night visitors’ safety.
- Initiate action to improve metrics established by the department managers and plant manager.
- Perform a minimum of four nightly plant audits.
- Attend and actively participate in monthly manager meeting.
- Ensure adherence to all internal and external quality standards.
- Ensure that he/she/they is/are not a direct threat to the health or safety to him/her/themselves, others, or property.

Qualifications
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
- Frequently lift, push, pull and carry up to 50 lbs.

WORKING CONDITIONS
- Work is generally performed in a manufacturing plant environment although some work is performed in an office setting.
- Typical working conditions are exposed to moderate noise but at times may be exposed to loud and excessive noise; temperatures within the manufacturing plant are generally moderate; however, an incumbent in this class may occasionally be exposed to temperatures that are significantly warm or cold.
- Incumbent may be exposed to dust and debris
- At times an incumbent in this class may need to work outside of regularly scheduled hours and may be required to work overtime.
- Travel may be required on a rare occasion.
QUALIFICATIONS
KNOWLEDGE OF:
Microsoft Office including Excel and Word and ERP systems
Manufacturing processes, equipment and technologies.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
High School Diploma or Equivalent
4 years of manufacturing experience, preferably in similar industry
2 years of leadership experience
Previous experience in off-set printing is strongly preferred.
