Tumble Operator - Day Shift

We are looking for a Tumble Operator to join us in our fabrication operations to create the highest quality knives.

SUMMARY

Using tumble machines and ceramic media to achieve different finishes on knife blades and components.

Using the principles of Lean Manufacturing, the operator will be responsible for inspecting parts for good quality, using visual observation. Operator will also complete machine set-up and perform minor machine maintenance.

SCHEDULE

Day Shift: Monday thru Thursday, 6:00 am - 4:30 pm

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The essential duties and responsibilities included but are not limited to the following-

• Reads job specification process sheets to determine the procedure required at assigned work station(s).
• Paperwork accurately and fully completed as required.
• Operates machinery.
• Observes machine operation to detect workpiece defects or machine malfunction.
• Add media and readjust machines when necessary.
• Performs minor machine maintenance.
• Responsible for keeping work area clean and safe.
• Practice 5S in the workplace.
• Ability to handle sharp knives and other items continuously throughout the shift.
• Comply with all standard safety practices, safety rules, and all Company rules and policies.
• Regular attendance is an essential function of this position.
• All other duties as assigned.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

This position will not have any supervisory responsibilities.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Basic mathematical skills, including the ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
• Ability to identify quality defects.
• Excellent communication, ability to work well with others.
• Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
• Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail.
• Ability to do highly repetitive physical work, paying attention to detail.
• Ability to read and interpret documents such as job, specification process sheets, safety rules, bill of materials, visual work instructions, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

• High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts and sharp objects (knives). The employee is occasionally exposed to toxic or caustic chemicals. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $16.00 - $17.00 per hour
