Buckeye Elementary School District Job Description
Title: Finance Coordinator
Reports to: Chief Financial Officer
Job Goal: To lead the financial operations of the district including accounting, purchasing, warehousing, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and student accounting in such a way to support the educational programs of the district within the financial resources available.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Finance or Accounting is preferred.
- Experience in school business financial management or related fields preferred.
SKILLS: are required to effectively perform the functions of this position. Specific skill-based competencies include: budget and financial planning, analyzing school finance issues, interpreting and explaining technical school finance policies and procedures, researching, collecting, and analyzing data, and preparing reports.
KNOWLEDGE: is required of: Procedures for management of school finance, district organization, operation, policies and procedures, State and Federal laws, statutes, rules, codes and regulations governing school finance activities and functions, computer spreadsheet and database software applications and other Microsoft Office tools, general office processes and procedures.

Performance Responsibilities
- Have a working knowledge of the federal and state regulations and statute for school districts including the Uniformed System of Financial Records (USFR), the OMB Uniform Grant Guidance, and the Arizona Department of Education (ADE) Grants Management system.
- Manage the federal, state, a variety of grants and capital projects in which the district participates, coordinating the grant application, verifying revenues, monitoring budget balances, completing and submitting cash management, completing and submitting budget revisions, completion reports, and other grant drawdown requests.
- Works directly with the Chief Financial Officer to plan, prepare, present, and monitor annual district budgets and assists in preparation of multi-year financial plans for capital projects and grant programs.
- Works directly with the Executive Director of Student Services to monitor fiscal resources from ESSA (Title I, Title II and Title IV) grants; prepares budgets and directs spending; and monitors maintenance for the purpose of fiscal efficiency in providing required services.
- Prepare a wide variety of materials (e.g., grants, Local Education Agency Integrated Action Plan (IAP) ESSA plan, reports, analyses, procedures, etc.) for the purpose of documenting activities and issues, meeting compliance requirements, making presentations, and/or providing supporting materials for requested actions.
- Attend classes, seminars and meetings as needed and research topics required to manage responsibilities (e.g., relevant policies, new federal and state statutes, staffing requirements, financial resources, education and school finance law, etc.) to improve knowledge and skills as they pertain to the district’s needs.
- Manage the 3-year physical inventory of the District Office complex and all Elementary School sites and perform monthly general fixed asset reconciliations.
- Assist in budget development for all grant and capital outlay funds and department budgets within these funds.
- Prepare, process, and distribute month end reports through Infinite Visions for Chief Financial Officer as required.
- Compile, extract, and analyze statistical data on District operations, and prepare technical reports as required.
- Assist with journal entries as required.
- Acquire knowledge in accounting software for the purpose of customizing data, tracking expenditures, and updating budget information.
- Support the district in preparing for audits and compliance monitoring involved with district funds.
- Develop forms, processes, procedures, and policies for the purpose of implementing a consistent budget and grant application methodology.
- Follow District policies, procedures, and directives in a timely and appropriate manner.
- Maintain a high level of ethical behavior

- Perform such other tasks as may be assigned.
