Located in the heart of downtown Chicago, this fast-growing firm is seeking an Accounting Manager to lead a small team and take ownership of financial reporting, month-end close, and accounting operations in a dynamic and purpose-driven environment.
This is a great opportunity for a CPA with a public accounting background and at least 1 year of people management experience who’s ready to step into a hands-on leadership role with real impact.
What You’ll Do:
- Lead the monthly and quarterly close process, ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting.
- Manage and mentor a small accounting team, fostering development and accountability.
- Oversee general ledger management, reconciliations, accruals, and journal entries.
- Ensure compliance with GAAP and internal controls, and support the implementation of process improvements.
- Prepare and review financial statements, variance analyses, and management reports.
- Partner with FP&A, operations, and executive leadership to support strategic decision-making.
- Assist with the annual audit, coordinating with external auditors and providing necessary documentation.
- Help drive continuous improvement initiatives and contribute to the scalability of accounting operations as the company grows.
What You Bring:
- CPA required, with a background in public accounting (Big 4 or mid-tier firm preferred).
- 5 years of total accounting experience, including at least 1 year of experience managing or mentoring team members.
- Solid understanding of U.S. GAAP, internal controls, and financial reporting.
- Experience in renewable energy, infrastructure, or capital-intensive industries is a plus.
- Strong communication and organizational skills, with a proactive, problem-solving mindset.
- Proficiency in ERP systems and Excel.
