We are seeking an experienced and dedicated Certified Dietary Manager (CDM) to oversee the dietary services within our community. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing the planning, preparation, and service of food and nutrition for patients and residents, ensuring compliance with regulations and standards. The CDM will also work collaboratively with healthcare professionals to provide optimal nutrition care and support for all clients.
Responsibilities would include:
- **Nutrition Management:** Develop, implement, and oversee individualized dietary plans for patients and residents, ensuring alignment with health care plans and nutritional needs.
- **Menu Planning:** Create and maintain diverse and appealing menus that meet dietary restrictions, preferences, and regulatory requirements, while considering seasonal availability and cost-effectiveness.
- **Staff Supervision:** Supervise kitchen and dietary staff including hiring, training, scheduling, and evaluating performance. Foster a positive work environment that encourages teamwork and professional development.
- **Quality Control:** Monitor food preparation, cooking, and serving methods to ensure compliance with safety, sanitation, and quality assurance standards. Conduct regular audits and assessments to maintain high standards of service.
- **Budget Management:** Assist in preparing and managing the dietary department budget, ensuring efficient use of resources, monitoring food inventory, and controlling costs.
- **Regulatory Compliance:** Ensure all dietary practices comply with state and federal regulations, as well as organizational policies. Stay updated on changes in food service regulations and best practices.
- **Patient Interaction:** Foster a respectful and supportive environment for patients/residents by engaging in effective communication regarding dietary needs, preferences, and feedback.
- **Collaboration:** Work closely with healthcare providers, such as dietitians, physicians, and nursing staff, to coordinate care and address nutritional concerns.
**Qualifications:**
- Certified Dietary Manager, Certified food service manager, or similar national certification for food service management and safety from a national certifying body; or an Associate’s degree or higher in food service management or in hospitality, if the course study includes food service or restaurant management, from an accredited institution of higher learning.
- Previous supervisory experience preferred.
- One year experience in a hospital or long term care community preferred.
