We are seeking a Development Manager to join our development teamAs a Development Manager, you will play an essential role in supporting and expanding fundraising initiatives by managing grant applications, reporting, and donor development and administrative functions.Join our team and shine hope in the lives of others! 


What You’ll DoAs a member of our team you will have an impact on our clients through accomplishment of the following responsibilities:



  • Independently and effectively support the grants and program administrator by carrying out assigned daily tasks and projects to grow fundraising initiatives. This includes producing reports, monitoring budgets to actuals, coordinating meetings and mailings, and managing electronic filing systems.

  • Participate in grant application and reporting processes and support gift officers and other development staff in future grant opportunities.

  • Coordinate and execute fundraising tasks. This includes overseeing data, reports, CRM functions, web and system updates, and other projects related to grants and donor development.

  • Work in collaboration with cross-functional departments to gather and prepare financial information, client stories, and other pertinent data needed for grant applications, solicitation proposals, and stewardship reporting.

  • Coordinate endowment fund reporting schedule and provide relevant financial and ministry updates accordingly.

  • Manage, maintain, and further develop assigned elements of the development team web application portal to store, organize, and share information.

  • Produce assigned fundraising reports in a timely manner. This includes tracking due dates for all development grants, multi-year gifts, capital gifts, and gifts from individuals.

  • Support team members as needed in creating stewardship materials. This includes, but is not limited to, writing client stories, analyzing program and financial information, and incorporating digital elements.

  • Support in making donor calls, donor correspondence, and updates to donor records.

  • Actively participate in scheduled staff and external meetings, as well as training as required.

  • Work as a productive and cooperating development team member to attain established goals and objectives.

  • Prepare and proofread letters, memos, spreadsheets, and other correspondence promptly and accurately.


What You’ll Bring to the TeamTo be successful in this role and a great addition to our team we need you to come with the following:



  • Requires in-depth understanding of business principles related to non-profit management, strategy, and communication education/experience commensurate with a Bachelor’s degree in non-profit management and/or business. Bachelor’s degree preferred.

  • Minimum of 1-3 years prior related business experience required.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and donor CRM systems.

  • Experience in donor stewardship, financial tracking, and grant writing preferred.

  • Requires proficient understanding of process design and procedures development and continuous improvement. Requires proficient ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw conclusions dealing with abstract variables.

  • Requires sensibility and adaptability to cultures representative of existing program locations.

  • Requires in-depth understanding of the various types of social service programs Buckner provides.

  • Requires in-depth ability to plan, administer, and report budgets.

  • Ability to partner with and influence others without direct authority; build consensus and look for collaboration with people from different functions and all levels required. Excellent team player.
