We are seeking a Director of Internal Communications to join our team committed to delivering an outstanding employee experience. As a Director of Internal Communications, you will play an important role in developing and executing a comprehensive internal communication and employer branding strategy that aligns with the organization’s mission, values, and business objectives. What you'll do:
- Develop and implement communication strategies and tactics to continuously cultivate employee engagement, reinforce organizational values, and support Buckner initiatives.
- Manage the Copywriter and ensure successful content creation, curation, and distribution of multi-channel internal communications. Collaborate with the External Communications team as appropriate.
- Document, formalize, and socialize internal communication processes throughout the organization to ensure consistent and effective messaging.
- Tailor internal communication strategies and messages to reach diverse employee groups, including on-site, hybrid, and remote team members, including team members without access to devices.
- Develop and maintain the internal communications editorial calendars, monitoring the audience, method, and rollout effectiveness for key campaigns.
- Counsel and guide the development of leadership communications, ensuring a consistent voice and authentic tone.
- Drive the internal brand for our executive leadership team, including informal and formal channels.
- In partnership with People Operations, guide leaders through complex communication and change management, providing guidance and direction on effective internal communication strategies.
- Support major initiatives and campaigns across the organization, including culture campaigns, annual employee surveys, service recognition programs, and leadership changes.
- Manage organization and department requests for internal communications projects and campaigns. Identify common needs and integrate applicable strategies into organization-wide solutions.
- In partnership with External Communications, lead internal crisis communication activities to ensure timely and accurate information dissemination during critical incidents.
- Collaborate with External Communications to produce online and in-person employee events, including Town Halls, devotions, the Leadership Retreat and our annual team member awards event.
- Collaborate with the External Communications marketing team members to ensure cohesive branding and messaging alignment across the organization.
- Support External Communications social media strategy with talent marketing, talent acquisition, and employee retention content creation.
- Manage content for the Buckner career site.
- Develop, implement and analyze communications metrics and their associated tools to provide data-driven solutions for internal communications channels.
What you’ll bring:
- Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, English, Writing, or a related field.
- At least seven years of corporate communications experience, including a minimum of two years of experience developing and executing internal communication strategies, with a focus on cultural alignment and employee engagement.
- Strong storytelling skills with the ability to transform complex information into engaging, clear, and compelling content suitable for diverse audiences and can translate business strategies, objectives, and results into digestible, compelling stories that resonate with team members and associates.
- Advanced writing and editing skills with a focus on clarity, consistency, and tone alignment.
- Skilled in managing digital communication platforms and tools, such as intranet systems, email platforms, and measurement tools for tracking communication effectiveness.
- Experience developing, producing and editing videos.
- Capacity to build and maintain a strategic communication framework, including a master editorial calendar and cross-team collaboration.
