What You'll Do
- Supervise, schedule, and train full-time, part-time, and PRN landscape team members, ensuring compliance with Buckner procedures and Department of Labor regulations.
- Oversee landscape projects, coordinating with vendors and contractors for labor and materials while managing assigned budget categories.
- Plan, coordinate, and oversee volunteer and team-building landscaping projects, ensuring alignment with organizational goals.
- Collaborate with Camp leadership and the landscape design team to develop, implement, and maintain the established landscape plan, including flowerbeds, trees, and overall grounds.
- Maintain the camp's visual appeal by mowing, edging, raking, and trimming shrubbery, ensuring that all walkways, trails, and common areas remain clean and free of debris to create a positive first impression for guests.
- Oversee tree care across the property by utilizing best practices, professional contractors, and available resources, including trimming, clearing, and controlled burning.
- Operate and maintain gas-powered lawn care equipment, including mowers, weed-eaters, chainsaws, edgers, and blowers, as well as ladders and hand tools.
- Follow scheduled maintenance plans and respond to unscheduled maintenance tasks as directed, ensuring adherence to established policies and procedures.
- Safely operate and maintain heavy equipment such as tractors, shredders, box blades, and augers while maintaining roads and pathways throughout the camp. Training is provided as needed.
What You'll Bring to the Team
- High School Certificate or GED required.
- Minimum 3 years prior related experience and/or training in landscaping required.
- Requires ability to speak clearly and make self clearly understood in face to face interactions; ability to articulate with accuracy to speak on the phone.
- Requires good organization and communication skills, both oral and in writing.
- Requires ability to use up to 100 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently and/or 10 pounds continuously to move objects.
- Requires ability to climb ladders, walk, stand, and sit, sometimes for prolonged periods of time; ability to grasp, push, pull, carry or otherwise manipulate objects.
- Requires ability to work outside with exposure to sun, heat, and elements of nature.
- Requires the ability to drive assigned vehicle(s) or personal vehicle, with appropriate state license, following all laws applicable; must provide proof of liability insurance and must be eligible to be insured under Buckner's insurance policy. Must be age 21 or older to drive on behalf of Buckner.
