Provide instructional support and program management, act as local education agency representative, and assure appropriate provision of related and other instructional services in a variety of settings.


Essential Functions:

  • Provide coordination and leadership for staff from varied disciplines including teachers, therapists and paraeducators.
  • Meets with parents to provide support and guidance in using community resources.
  • Serve as LEA representative at IEP meetings in the absence of the Program Supervisor
  • Provide assistance to supervisors regarding the placement of students and the transition of students into the programs.
    • Provide curricular support to staff.
    • Provide support to staff for documentation and progress monitoring.
    • Provide support and direction to staff regarding scheduling and other student management issues.
    • Provide support and direction to professional and paraeducators in the use of technologies for instruction, assessment and data management.
    • Support staff in the analysis of data that results in modifications of instructional programming and student progress.
    • Assist supervisors with program initiatives.
    • Confer with parents, administrators, testing specialists, social workers, and others to problem solve issues related to students within the classroom or itinerant programs.
    • Meets with parents to provide support and guidance in using community resources.
    • Participates in the recruitment, interviewing and hiring of staff.

      While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to sit and use hands. The employee is frequently required to walk; reach with hands and arms and talk or
      hear. The employee may be required to stand for long periods, and to climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

      Position Type/Expected Hours of Work: This is a full-time, 193-day calendar position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday. Hours of work are from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Hours are dependent on the needs of the districts. Occasional evening and/or weekend work may be required as job duties demand.

Qualifications

Education and Experience:

Master’s degree in Special Education or related field.

PA Department of Education Certification in Special Education, Speech/Language, or School Psychologist.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of special education and early intervention laws and regulations.
  • Knowledge of developmentally appropriate early intervention practice.
  • Ability to lead and manage large, geographically diverse interdisciplinary service teams.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with staff, families and agency representatives.

Work Authorization/Security Clearance (if applicable): Citizenship or work authorization to work in the United States required.
