The Director of Health Safety and Environmental Compliance (“HSE”) at Buffalo Builders is responsible for the development, management, and implementation of the Company Health and Safety Program and its implementation companywide for all projects in planning and under construction. Our commercial, multi-family, and industrial construction projects involve multiple engineering disciplines and sub-contractor trades. The Director of HSE is a mid-level management position reporting to the COO.
The Director of HSE will be responsible for leading the safety culture on our projects. This position requires knowledge of OSHA regulations, safety management, jobsite inspection, hazard analysis, accident investigation and training in the construction industry. The responsibilities include, but are not limited to :
ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The duties and responsibilities are intended to describe the general nature and scope of work being performed by this position. This is not a complete listing, and other duties will be assigned based on the position’s role within the business unit.
- Lead the evolution, development and implementation of health and safety policies and programs demonstrating in-depth knowledge of Federal and State law, touching all areas of the business.
- Lead the company in developing, implementing, and coordinating health and safety training and activities.
- Lead the company in developing, implementing, and coordinating environmental best practices including SWPPP training and activities.
- Maintain all safety records of the company and compile incident rate data on injuries, accidents, etc.
- Prepare, implement, and enforce Job Safety Analysis (JSA) and Activities Hazard Analysis (AHAs).
- Develop safety actions for pre-construction conferences, pre-work meetings including inspection meetings, and periodic in-progress project meetings.
- Conduct and document Jobsite Safety Observations
- Review subcontractor safety pre-qualification submittal
- Prepare and deliver to Superintendents, safety toolbox talks and safety training topics for contractors
- Work with Project Executives, Project Managers, and Site Superintendents to establish job site safety procedures and policies during initial project mobilization and as needed during the project.
