Building Material Estimator

We are seeking a Lead Building Material Estimator to join our team.

Job Summary:
The Lead Building Material Estimator will prepare material take-offs for single-family and multi-family projects. The Lead Building Material Estimator reports directly to the Director of Building Materials.

Responsibilities:

• Create material take-offs for framing lumber, sheathing, hardware, weather-resistive barriers, and siding.
• Understand architectural and engineering blueprints, specifications, UL assemblies, and scope requirements.
• Work with procurement team to perform cost analysis, material selection, and create project material budgets.
• Maintain bidding and job costing data files.
• Communicate with designers, field staff, and customers.
• Track and release material for job-site deliveries.

Qualifications and Experience:

• Bachelor’s degree in construction management or equivalent, project management or business preferred but not required.
• Four years of estimating experience required.
• Strong mathematical skills and visualization skills required.
• Ability to meet deadlines.
• Excellent verbal and written communication.
• Organized and detail-oriented.
• Proficient with Microsoft Excel.
• Willingness to learn new software.
• Understanding of wood construction.
• Experience with estimating software(s) (PlanSwift).
• General knowledge of IRC and IBC codes.

Physical Requirements:

• Extended periods of time working on a computer.
• Lift up to 15 pounds.
