Buffalo Medical Group is a physician owned and directed multi-specialty healthcare group serving approximately 240,000 patients across the western NY community for nearly 80 years. We are seeking an experienced healthcare law attorney who will provide strategic legal advice and guidance to ensure compliance, risk management, and effective legal solutions while navigating healthcare law regulations within the dynamic landscape of a self-insured, value based full-risk model.
Primary Duties:
Risk Management: Identify and mitigate legal risks to the organization by proactively advising on issues such as malpractice, patient rights, Medicare and Medicaid compliance, state and federal healthcare laws and regulations, and corporate governance.
Contract Review & Negotiation: Draft, review, and negotiate contracts related to healthcare services, provider agreements, service contracts, payer agreements, Group insurance, and vendor relationships.
Policy Development: Assist in the creation, implementation and management of internal policies and procedures related to healthcare laws and compliance.
Litigation and Dispute Resolution: Represent the organization in disputes and litigation matters, including regulatory investigations, administrative hearings, and lawsuits related to healthcare claims, fraud, abuse, and licensure issues.
Internal Counseling: Serve as a trusted advisor and subject matter expert to senior leadership, offering legal advice on a wide range of healthcare-related matters.
Policy Advocacy & Legislation: Stay updated on changes in healthcare law and policy, and advocate on behalf of the Group in legislative matters when appropriate.
Qualifications:
Education: Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.
Licensing: Admission to the bar in NY.
Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience practicing healthcare law, with a strong focus on regulatory
compliance, Medicare/Medicaid requirements, and medical malpractice insurance in NY (MLMIC).
Skills:
· Strong legal research, writing, and analytical skills.
· Excellent communication, presentation skills.
· Strong negotiation skills with ability to influence and drive change.
· Ability to work independently and in collaboration with senior leadership team and physicians.
· Attention to detail and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.

Pay: From $125,000.00 per year
