The Medical Assistant position is a very important part of Buffalo Medical Group. Our Medical Assistants are expected to maintain the highest level of customer service and professionalism.
As a Medical Assistant you will be responsible for providing clinical and administrative support. Medical Assistants support our offices in Buffalo, Orchard Park, Williamsville and Niagara County (Transit Rd).

As a Medical Assistant you will be responsible for providing clinical and administrative support. Medical Assistants support our offices in Buffalo, Orchard Park, Williamsville and Niagara County (Transit Rd).
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: To include, but not limited to, the following:
- Maintains relations with the public in a professional manner
- Patient interaction, by phone, in person or by computer, is courteous, tactful, efficient and precise
- Interaction with co-workers and supervisors is courteous and respectful
- Utilize the EMR to accurately schedule and document all patient appointments, tests, referrals, and other medical interactions
- Reviews electronic chart prior to the patient’s appointment to ensure that all records are available for the provider. Utilize the EMR to request, locate patient information
- Utilize the EMR to place all clinical orders, both external and internal, including inputting appropriate diagnosis codes
- Retrieve telephone messages from BMG’s electronic voice mail system, document clinical calls in the EMR according to BMG’s Telephone Documentation Policy and Procedure and forward, if warranted, to the appropriate party
- Retrieve faxes from BMG’s Outlook system; send faxes via right-fax
- Call patients from waiting room; assist as needed; escort to Vitals room and/or exam room.
- Performs vitals on all scheduled patients. Utilize EMR networked vital units if available
- Performs specimen collections, testing procedures, electrocardiograms (EKGs) , or any other BMG approved procedure as requested by the provider
- Assists the provider with diagnostic procedures or treatments as requested and within the scope of a Medical Assistant
- Responsible to sterilize surgical instruments according to manufacturer’s recommendations
- Responsible to maintain and audit sterilization equipment according to manufacturer’s recommendation and BMG policy
- Cleans and prepares examination rooms for patients, including stocking supplies and disposing of hazardous wastes properly
- Maintains efficient inventory of office and clinical supplies
- Ensure that all pharmaceuticals are properly logged, stored in locked cabinet, rotated, and destroyed upon expiration
- Properly manage all paper documents and mail; i.e. prepare documents for provider’s review and once signed by a provider send to Medical Records in the blue envelope for scanning. Medical records found in the EMR should not be sent to Medical Records for scanning
- Abstract charts on all new patients when appropriate and send appropriate documents for back scanning
- Process all provider and patient requests in a timely, accurate, and confidential manner
- If applicable, ensure proper referrals are in place
- Obtain pre-authorization for required exams, pharmaceuticals, and provider referrals
- Schedule both in-patient and out-patient surgical procedures and coordinate pre-op testing
- Maintains neat, organized and clean work area
- Achieves Pay for Performance goals
- Attends education programs as assigned
- Adheres to Buffalo Medical Group Policies and Procedures
- Complies with BMG Corporate Compliance Policy and HIPAA regulations.
- Performs other duties as required not to include functions limited to a licensed professional
- High school diploma or GED, AAS in Medical Assisting Preferred
- Knowledge of proper use of ICD-10 and CPT coding and documentation
- Reliable transportation
- Ability to assimilate to differing and challenging environments
- Full Time; Monday-Friday
- Hours are typically 8:00am-4:30pm, unless otherwise specified by the assigned office. Some offices start as early as 6:00am and others may end at 5:00pm
- No nights, weekends or holidays!

Salary : $17 - $26
