Job Responsibilities – Commercial Energy Consultant (1099 / Independent Contractor)
As a 1099 Commercial Renewable Energy Sales Consultant, you’ll act as an independent business developer focused on identifying, pitching, and closing commercial clean energy solutions—primarily rooftop solar—for mid to large-scale businesses.

Generate and Qualify Leads Independently: Proactively build your own pipeline by identifying and engaging commercial prospects such as office parks, industrial buildings, schools, and commercial real estate portfolios. Leverage personal networks, cold outreach, LinkedIn, and clean energy events.
➤ Maintain a pipeline of at least 10 qualified leads per week (40 per month).

Deliver Tailored Proposals: Present customized, value-driven proposals including history of Buffalo Solar, warranty, estimated energy savings, ROI, carbon offset data, and project timelines.
➤ Deliver a minimum of 4 client-ready proposals per month.

Manage Client Relationships from Prospect to Close: Own the full sales cycle, including discovery, consultation, proposal delivery, and the post-sale client handoff. Serve as the client's main point of contact throughout the sales process.
- Conduct Energy Assessments: Work with clients to analyze utility data, site conditions, and energy goals. Coordinate with internal teams to assess site feasibility and create preliminary project scopes

Present and Close Deals: Lead clients through the decision-making process and secure signed agreements.
➤ Meet or exceed a monthly revenue target of $300,000 through closed deals.

Stay Informed and Self-Motivated: Stay up to date on federal/state/local incentives (e.g., ITC, NYSERDA, Rebates), net metering rules,VDER Remote crediting, and evolving clean energy regulations. Educate yourself continuously to better position solutions and close deals.

Use CRM Tools for Pipeline Management: Track all sales activity, leads, follow-ups, and proposal delivery through company-provided CRM software.Sales Meetings and Communication: Attend weekly Sales Meetings and one on one’s with the Sales Manager, as necessary. Communicate your weekly pipeline wins and losses complete with activity of businesses visited and conversations
Flexible Travel as Needed: Travel locally or regionally to meet clients on-site, conduct walkthroughs, attend renewable energy expos, and close high-value opportunities.
Important Notes for 1099 Role:
- This is a 100% commission-based independent contractor position.
- You control your own schedule and sales approach.
- The company will provide proposal support, engineering, and marketing materials
- You are responsible for your own taxes, insurance, and compliance as an independent entity.
- Proven ability to hunt for leads, cold outreach, network, and close complex deals.
- NABCEP PV Associate certification preferred
- Past experience selling big-ticket CapEx projects ($50k )
Salary : $72,000 - $140,000
