Community Outreach Coordinator
Position Type: Part-Time, Grant funded through June 2026, we are optimistic we will find funding to make a permanent position.
Responsible To: Program Director
Basic Job Functions: The Community Outreach Coordinator will have an ability to connect with people and share the compelling mission of the CAC and the impact the CAC has on child abuse victims and their families through engaging visual content and community conversations.
This position will develop and foster relationships with community partners and represent the agency at various meetings in the community. Coordinate and implement training and development for MDT members, staff, and community partners on areas relating to child maltreatment. Plan and facilitate fundraising events. Coordinate and implement community education, awareness, and prevention programming regarding agency services and topics related to child maltreatment. Assisting with advocacy and CAC direct services while ensuring that underserved populations have access to services.
Primary Duties:
- Development and implementation of community education services.
- Securing partnerships with schools in order to provide Monique Burr Foundation prevention education trainings to students in schools throughout Buffalo Trace region.
- Works to ensure that underserved populations are reached, ensuring they are aware of and can connect to CAC services as well as prevention education programs.
- Utilize social media to promote the mission and work of the CAC by creating positive, educational messages on a regular basis.
- Maintain the CAC website.
- Design digital and printed content to raise awareness on CAC services and community education and awareness events.
- Plan and participate in professional development for CAC staff and MDT members.
- Be capable of providing information about CAC services as well as community resources and have the ability to identify immediate needs and make referrals.
- Provide Victim’s Compensation resource and referral
- Coordinate booths at community events and be able to provide information on all CAC services and community education program.
- Survey client and community education participants to assess effectiveness of services and programs.
- Coordinate April Child Abuse Prevention Month activities.
- Assist with Advocacy and ongoing case management when needed.
- Assist with answering phone calls and coordinating appointments for services with family, community partners and staff
- Prepares and provides regular updates for the Board of Directors on education and community awareness activities and events.
- Assist with coordination of Multi-Disciplinary Team meetings and attend meetings when schedule allows.
- Assist with preparation of quarterly reports and gathering other statistical data as assigned.
- Follow CAC policies and procedures.
- Attend meetings as requested.
- May assist with interviews and supervision of volunteers and student interns.
- Other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
Bachelor degree from an accredited college or university and two years of experience in a human services or criminal justice field. Master degree preferred. Will consider education and marketing degrees. The ideal candidate will have 2 years of experience working with children and families; have experience working in the field of child protection, child maltreatment, sexual assault, or with children and families who have experienced trauma; be highly sensitive to the needs and welfare of children and caretakers who have experienced physical and/or sexual maltreatment; and be highly motivated and able to work independently when required. Must have excellent interpersonal skills, including ability to facilitate groups and speak effectively to small and large groups of people.
Other Qualifications:
- Academic training or practical experience in and knowledge of developmental stages of children and the dynamics and effects of child sexual and physical maltreatment and neglect, domestic violence, drug endangered children, and substance abuse.
- Ability to work collaboratively with other professionals.
- Ability to work with diverse populations.
- Positive disposition toward multi-disciplinary team approach to helping victims of crime.
- Excellent organizational, computer, written, and verbal communication skills.
- Must have ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality.
- Must be detail oriented.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Ability to work under pressure and to problem solve as issues arise.
- Strong leadership skills with desire to take initiative.
Additional Requirements:
· The Community Outreach Coordinator must be able to work flexible hours. This position may include some early morning and evening hours. Many community awareness events may be scheduled during evening or weekend hours.
· Employee must have access to a vehicle; possess a valid driver’s license and proof of insurance.
· Employee must submit to a thorough criminal and child abuse background check at least every 2 years.
· In-state and occasional out-of-state travel may be required.
