Scope of Duties and Responsibilities of Program Coordinator (PC)

· Supervise, train, mentor and evaluate all program teaching staff

· Guide teaching staff in implementing the Creative Curriculum and Teaching Strategies GOLD online assessment.

· Support teaching staff in coaching and continuing education plans

· Has the authority to supervise employees, handle issues and concerns, and conduct disciplinary meetings, if appropriate.

· Responsible for carrying out and ensuring policies, procedures, and philosophy of Bugbee Children’s Center, and will work together with Administration and other staff to foster an atmosphere of goodwill, open communication, and teamwork.

· At all times, the PC must maintain confidentiality of information regarding personnel, families, children, and program matters.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS FOR ALL EMPLOYEES

Enrollment and work needs change day to day and from semester to semester. In order to maintain OCFS New York State licensing ratios and be cost efficient, staff may be reassigned to different classrooms or age groups as needed and may be required to work varying hours.

In addition, ALL employees must be able to:

· Observe, hear, see, anticipate and respond to children’s needs, conflicts and emergencies that may occur in a classroom, on the playground, in the gymnasium, in the bathrooms, in the hallways and on field trips

· Determine social, physical, cognitive and emotional needs of children and communicate these in writing and verbally in a professional manner that families and other staff are able to understand and respond to

· Address/Intervene immediately any and all situations that are potentially hurtful or harmful to a child and/or employee regardless of your job title

· Handle the stress, tension and exasperation, with a calm demeanor, that can from dealing with many young children and their families in order to provide an even-tempered customer service

· Lift up to 30 lbs. without any lifting restrictions

· Safely carry Infants and older children as needed

· Get on the floor with children to play and be able to get up and down repeatedly in order to attend to the needs of the children

· Perform all work in accordance with Bugbee Children’s Center’s Policies/Procedures, NYS OCFS Day Care licensing regulations, governmental laws and state mandates

Duties of the Program Coordinator shall include, but are not limited to the following:

Supervision of Classroom Program

· Trains new staff in Creative Curriculum and Teaching Strategies documentation

· Works with staff to implement Creative Curriculum that is developmentally appropriate and engaging to the interests of the children

· Reviews weekly classrooms activity sheets, daily schedules, and individual plans for children

in all classrooms

· Monitors the progress of documentation in Teaching Strategies to align with planned checkpoints

· Observes classrooms regularly, mentoring teaching staff when solving curriculum challenges and/or

issues of safety

· Assumes responsibility for training teachers how to use the selected Screening /Assessment tools.

· Trains staff to use and understand the NYS Quality Stars Standards, the Core Body of Knowledge, ITERS, ECERS, and NYS OCFS Regulations

· Oversee daily maintenance/regulatory standards of the classrooms such as checklists,

attendance records, daily health checks, and portfolios

· Mentors and regularly meets with teaching staff periodically in Teacher/Assistant Teacher meetings

· Observes classrooms regularly and provides staff feedback on a continuous basis

· Ensures classroom environment promotes positive discipline and conflict resolution

Personnel Management

· Assists in the orientation of new full time and part time employees assigned to work in classrooms

· Is well informed of Employee Handbook and Classroom Handbook and ensures implementation of policies and procedures

· Communicates closely with Administration about any performance problems with specific classroom staff

· Participates in the development of individual staff training plans

· Participates in the development of performance reviews

· Develops goals and objectives for staff to improve classroom curriculum

OCFS Regulations

· Understands responsibilities as a mandated reporter

· Attends trainings and workshops to achieve 30 hours of training every 2 years (15 hours in the first 6 months)

· Achieves and maintains Medication Administration Training certification to administer medications

· Responsible for knowing and upholding OCFS regulations

Professional Development

· Keeps current with all CACFP/OCFS required training

· Pursues any credentials and degrees required by Bugbee Children’s Center

· Attends and engages in ongoing professional development to continuously improve skills

· Participates in staff meetings as requested by Administration

· Takes the initiative and demonstrates desire to identify ongoing opportunities for professional development

· Is open and willing to try new ideas and to accept supervision

· Participate in self-assessment, evaluation, and staff surveys

· Attends and contributes to staff meetings

The Program Coordinator may also have additional job responsibilities assigned by the administrative staff.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $50,000.00 - $60,000.00 per year
