About You
You’re more than just detail-oriented — you’re methodical, proactive, and thrive in a fast-paced environment where accuracy matters. With your extensive experience in probate, guardianship, trust administration, and estate planning, you know how to balance independence with teamwork, ensuring cases move seamlessly from start to finish.
Your deep understanding of the Florida Probate Code, Florida Guardianship Law, and local court rules equips you to manage complex cases with confidence. You communicate with clarity and compassion, helping clients navigate sensitive legal matters with ease.
What You’ll Do
Probate and Trust Administration
- Draft and file pleadings for formal and summary probate estates, including petitions, inventories, accountings, and distributions.
- Manage homestead and exempt property claims in accordance with legal requirements.
- Track case progress, meet deadlines, and ensure all filings comply with the Florida Probate Code.
- Act as a trusted liaison with clients, courts, and other parties to provide updates and resolve inquiries.
Guardianship
- Prepare and file guardianship petitions, annual accountings, and initial reports.
- Ensure all guardianship matters meet court expectations and statutory deadlines.
- Support families with compassionate guidance throughout the guardianship process.
Estate Planning
- Assist in drafting wills, trusts, powers of attorney, and healthcare directives tailored to clients’ needs.
- Coordinate client meetings, document preparation, and signings.
- Stay current with legal updates and advise attorneys on necessary document revisions.
Additional Responsibilities
- Collaborate with attorneys, paralegals, and staff to ensure smooth case management.
- Assist with phone calls, scheduling, and administrative tasks as needed.
- Maintain accurate billing records, achieving time-tracking targets (ramping to 75% billable time within 90 days).
What We’re Looking For
- Experience: Minimum of 3 years as a Probate and Guardianship Paralegal or 5 years as a Litigation Paralegal.
- Education: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in Paralegal Studies or a related field.
- Skills:
- Proven ability to draft legal documents and manage workflows independently.
- Strong organizational, analytical, and communication skills with meticulous attention to detail.
- Proficiency in legal software and Microsoft Office Suite.
