PURPOSE
The Contracts Manager is responsible for managing and assuming the entire contract lifecycle to include driving the negotiation process from start to finish.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assumes the role of the sole driver of the negotiation process.
- Reviews and analyzes builder and general contractor agreements for compliance with BFS risk tolerances.
- Reviews such agreements for key legal and operational concerns and uses independent judgment to determine appropriate method of revision.
- Develops, drafts and approves redlines and/or addenda to such agreements.
- Assists Director of Contracts Management and other Department personnel with coordination and management of critical customer and vendor insurance and contract compliance programs.
- Collaborates with Legal Department staff on priorities, issues, scheduling and interfacing with in-house and external clients.
- Manages tracking, completion and return of contracts either inside or outside the department and company.
- Understands and observes all safety procedures and practices in order to prevent injury to self or co-workers; attends periodic safety meetings as required; may recommend changes to improve safety procedures.
- Other duties may be assigned.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
- Bachelor’s degree
- Five (5) years of directly related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Previous experience working in the construction/building materials or industry-adjacent segment preferred.
- Previous legal experience with law firm and/or in-house legal department preferred
COMPETENCIES
- Drafting and negotiating contractual provisions.
- Familiarity with legal terms, documents and filing systems
- Previous legal experience with law firm and/or in-house legal department preferred
- Knowledge of modern office practices and procedures
- Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing
- Ability to handle multiple tasks and meet deadlines
- Ability to use tact and skill in dealing with all levels of personnel
- Skill in the use of a personal computer and various application programs (i.e. Microsoft Office Suite)
- Ability to organize and complete tasks in a timely manner
