Position Overview:
We are seeking a Junior Accountant to join our team. This role is ideal for an entrepreneurial self-starter who is eager to contribute to the business beyond traditional accounting functions. In addition to handling standard accounting responsibilities, this individual will take on a key role in managing payroll activities for the multiple fully staffed buildings we oversee, each with its own payroll. This is not a “green eyeshade” accounting job—we are looking for someone who is curious, proactive, and excited to learn and help run the business.
Key Responsibilities:
- Process payroll for multiple buildings, ensuring accuracy and compliance with regulations.
- Gain and maintain an understanding of NYC building union contracts
- Prepare and maintain financial reports and statements.
- Perform bank reconciliations and general ledger maintenance.
- Assist with budgeting, financial forecasting, and audits.
- Support day-to-day business operations with a hands-on approach.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting (required).
- A minimum of 2 years of work experience in accounting, including exposure to payroll processing.
- Entrepreneurial mindset with a proactive, self-starter attitude.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication skills and willingness to ask questions and seek solutions.
- Eagerness to learn and grow within a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
