What are the responsibilities and job description for the Electrical Inspector position at Building & Zoning Department?
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Inspect residential and commercial construction and installations to enforce applicable electrical codes and ensure compliance with approved plans.
- Advise contractors and homeowners in violation of codes on reasons for non-compliance; make recommendations for correction of violations; answer telephone and in-person inquiries from contractors and members of the public.
- Examine plans for residential and commercial structures to ensure compliance with applicable electric codes and regulations; process permit applications and issue permits.
- Assist other inspectors as needed with duties; and perform other duties as required or assigned.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- High school degree or equivalent required
- Valid Ohio driver’s license with a safe driving record
- Comprehensive knowledge of electrical wiring installation techniques and procedures
- Thorough knowledge of National Electric Code and county building regulations, as well as inspection techniques
- State of Ohio Electrical Safety Inspector Certification, or the ability to obtain certification
- State of Ohio Building Inspector and/or Residential Building Inspector Certification(s) is desirable
- Able to access work sites under construction under difficult conditions
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $31.00 - $42.00 per hour
