Job Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Credit Specialist to join our accounting team on a part-time, in-person basis. The Collections Specialist will play a vital role in ensuring timely payment of outstanding invoices by contacting customers, resolving discrepancies, and maintaining accurate records. This position requires strong communication and organizational skills, as well as the ability to work effectively with internal teams.
Collection Activities:
- Evaluate credit applications and assess the creditworthiness of applicants.
- Proactively contact customers with overdue invoices via phone and email, following established prioritization procedures.
- Contact customers who have exceeded their credit limits to discuss payment arrangements.
- Negotiate payment plans and resolve payment disputes professionally and efficiently
Account Management:
- Maintain detailed and accurate records of all communication and collection activities within our systems.
- Schedule and manage follow-up calls and correspondence.
- Respond promptly to customer requests for documentation, such as invoices and proof of delivery.
Interdepartmental Collaboration:
- Collaborate with Sales & Accounting to resolve customer disputes, process credits and answer customer inquiries.
- Work with the Sales team to promote the use of Credit Key for new customers, prioritizing this option before offering in-house credit.
Accounting Support:
- Assist with coding checks and/or fulfillment when necessary
- Reconcile payments to invoices and work with customers to resolve discrepancies
Qualifications:
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, to effectively interact with customers, accounting and customer service.
- Ability to learn software systems
- Strong attention to detail
- Willingness to work as part of a team
