Bullhead City Elementary School District is seeking a highly qualified Assistant Transportation Director
QUALIFICATIONS:
- High School Diploma or verifiable G.E.D.
- CDL license and Bus Driver Certificate
- Three (3) years bus transportation experience
- Certified bus driver training instructor preferred
- Previous management experience
- Ability to communicate effectively with children and adults
Alternative to the above qualifications as the Governing Board finds appropriate and acceptable.
REPORTS TO: Transportation Director/Superintendent
WORKS CLOSELY WITH: Transportation Director, Administrative Assistant, Human Resources Coordinator, Payroll Coordinator, Principals
SUPERVISES: Transportation Secretary, Bus Drivers, Trainers, Bus Monitors, Mechanics
JOB GOAL: To enable every student, through safe and economically efficient transportation, to take full advantage of the complete range of curricular and extracurricular activities offered by District schools
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Develop and administer, with the Transportation Director, a transportation program to meet the requirements of the daily instructional program and extracurricular activities.
2. Manage and administer the Transportation Department in absence of the Transportation Director.
3. Prepare bus routes for all schools in the District.
4. Recruit, train, and supervise all transportation personnel, and make recommendations on their employment, transfer, promotion, and release.
5. Maintain all District-owned transportation equipment and develop plans for preventative maintenance.
6. Assist with the preparation and administration of the Transportation Department budget.
7. Maintain safety standards in conformance with state and insurance regulations and develop a program of preventative safety.
8. Develop bid specifications for the Transportation Department.
9. Monitor each transportation employee’s time records, indicate approval by signature, and submit to payroll.
10. Cooperate with Principals and others responsible for planning special school trips.
11. Take an active role in solving discipline problems occurring on school buses or at bus stops.
12. Develop recommendations for future equipment and personnel needs based on information from schools about students’ residences, distances, and grade levels.
13. Facilitate resolution of parent special requests and complaints about bus drivers.
14. Conform to all state laws and regulations regarding school transportation.
15. Complete and submit all require reports (ADE, insurance).
16. Drive buses when necessary.
17. Attend appropriate committee and staff meetings as required.
18. Perform other duties as assigned by the Transportation Director or Superintendent.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: 1840 hours/230 days per year with a one-year work agreement. Salary to be established with the Board.
EVALUATION: Performance will be evaluated annually in accordance with provisions of the Board’s policy on Evaluation of Administrative Personnel.
Job Type: Full-time, flex schedule 4-5 days a week
Salary: $32,750.00 to $38,250.00
