Position Summary:
Medical Office Assistants perform clinical and administrative duties consistent with Medical Assistant program education, training and experience. Works in both the clinical and front office functions of the practice providing clerical and assisting in the delivery of health care and patient care support activities. The Medical Office Assistant performs duties in accordance with the specific needs of the practice.
Required Qualifications:
· Education- High School or GED equivalent
· Minimum of 6 months’ experience with computers, Microsoft Office and email.
· Minimum of 6 months' health care facility clinical experience or clinical education.
· Excellent Customer service skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
· Basic knowledge of medical terminology, ICD-10 and CPT codes
· Electronic Medical Record experience
· Minimum of 6 months’ experience as a medical office assistant or CAN or equivalent.
· Minimum of 6 months' experience with electronic health records.
· Some knowledge of medical terminology
· Completion of a medical assistant program or equivalent
Primary Job Responsibilities and Accountability:
1. Performs clinical, clerical and other duties as assigned and assists with all telephone calls in a professional manner.
2. Schedules patient appointments; maintains and updates daily schedules; schedules patients for outpatient testing and other diagnostic services; follows up on incomplete tests with patients and communicates to Nurse Practitioner.
3. Conducts pre-visit planning by reviewing, retrieving and updating patient medical records prior to appointment with recent results and correspondence.
4. Contacts insurance carriers for prior authorization of services and medications. Also assists with claim resolutions.
5. Prepares, cleans and maintains exam rooms and is responsible for monitoring and maintaining current supply inventory.
6. Assists as back up to other clerical personnel in the office as needed.
7. Adheres to HIPAA rules and regulations and maintains strict confidentiality.
8. Utilizes and assists with Electronic Health Records and designated quality measures and programs.
9. Other duties as assigned.
Special Requirements:
Possession of a valid IL driver’s license; ability to provide reliable transportation for work assignments; possession of appropriate level of automobile insurance as specified in the Department’s personnel policies; able to lift and move at least 50lbs; Must pass a satisfactory criminal background check and drug test.

Pay: $20.00 per hour
