Job Summary:
Under the direction of the Superintendent, the Daycare Program Coordinator is a highly qualified individual whose knowledge and experience support the district’s Birth - K3 daycare program and school-aged programs, including Before & After Care and Innovation Camp. The Daycare Program Coordinator is responsible for the operations of, and is the instructional leader for, the district’s program and related facilities. They will train and supervise staff, set instructional objectives, work to build rapport with parents and the community, and serve as compliance officer for the facility in regard to local, state and federal laws and regulations.
Essential Functions:
- Set educational standards and goals and help establish policies, procedures, and programs to carry them out.
- Determine the scope of educational program offerings and prepare drafts of program schedules and descriptions to estimate staffing and facility requirements.
- Recruit, hire, train, and evaluate primary and supplemental staff and recommend personnel actions for programs and services, including personnel for the Before & After Care, Innovation Camp, and Birth K-3 Daycare programs.
- Determine allocations of funds for staff, supplies, materials, and equipment and authorize purchases.
- Direct and coordinate activities of teachers or staff within the Birth - K3 district programs, including the Before & After Care, Innovation Camp, and Daycare programs.
- Prepare and maintain attendance, activity, planning, accounting, or personnel reports and records for officials and agencies, or direct preparation and maintenance activities.
- Plan, direct, and monitor instructional methods and content of educational, vocational, or student activity programs.
- Confer with parents and staff to discuss educational activities and policies and childrens’ behavioral or learning problems.
- Monitor childrens’ progress and provide students and staff with assistance in resolving any problems.
- Review and interpret government codes and develop procedures to meet codes and to ensure facility safety, security, and maintenance.
- Review and evaluate new and current programs to determine their efficiency, effectiveness, and compliance with state, local, and federal regulations and recommend any necessary modifications.
- Collect and analyze survey data, regulatory information, and demographic and employment trends to forecast enrollment patterns and the need for curriculum changes.
- Inform businesses, community groups, and governmental agencies about educational needs, available programs, and program policies.
- Write articles, manuals, and other publications and assist in the distribution of promotional literature about programs and facilities.
- Prepare and submit budget requests or grant proposals to solicit program funding.
- Organize and direct committees of specialists, volunteers, and staff to provide technical and advisory assistance for programs.
- Teach classes or courses or provide direct care to children, as needed.
Qualifications:
- At least three years of demonstrated leadership experience within a daycare setting, including management of staff and operations, required.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to handle multiple tasks.
- Strong supervisory/mentoring skills.
- Strong written and oral communication skills.
- Experience building and maintaining relationships with families; preference given to candidates who have participated in or lead program development and related community engagement.
- Ability to treat each child with dignity and respect.
- Strong daycare, or similar program administrative skills including record keeping, data entry, typing, document processing and scheduling.
- Knowledge of state regulations in regard to school district managed daycare programs preferred.
- Associate’s Degree in childcare or early childhood OR Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood or similar required. Wisconsin teaching licensure for early childhood, Kindergarten or early childhood special education preferred.
- Knowledge of project-based learning or Montessori instructional techniques preferred.
- Knowledge of relevant technology to assist in instruction and support program administration and operations.
- Must be able to pass relevant background check/s, hold a valid driver’s license, and demonstrate a clean driving record.
