Job Summary

Responsible for cutting raw material and/or trimming printed stock to customer specifications on powered trim cutter. Capable of solving problems, making adjustments to mechanical operation of equipment to keep quality, registration, and production speed at optimum.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Receives production order and job assignments from supervisor.
  • Obtains substrate and related supplies needed to produce job.
  • Sets up equipment to cut stock within a /- 1/32 inch print tolerance according to established company guidelines, safety, and job requirements.
  • Align paper with side guides, ensuring proper fit of registration marks, and adjust clamps and side trimmer.
  • Refers to job blueprint to ensure parts are cut with the proper 1/32” tolerance.
  • Run proof sheet for supervisor approval, making necessary adjustments where needed.
  • Secures supervisors approval for production run.
  • Sheets or trims job maintaining optimum production rate, registration, and quality standard within company and customer guidelines, and makes equipment adjustments as required.
  • Inspect sheets while stacking, inserting slip sheets if required.
  • Completes production run including overruns and production samples.
  • Completes production records by documenting date, quantity, and initials on job jacket.
  • Understands and implements all safety standards in all duties performed in this role.
  • Ensures proper cleanliness of equipment, work station, and immediate area.

This job has no supervisory responsibilities. Carries out conduct and leadership responsibilities professionally in accordance with company policies, procedures, safety, and applicable laws.

Education and/or Experience

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or three to five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.


Language Skills

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals in English. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence in English. Ability to speak effectively with groups of customers or employees of BGS.


Mathematical Skills

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.


Reasoning Ability

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standard situations.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and ability to adjust focus.
