Burlington High School Part-Time Career Pathway Advisors (Multiple Positions Available for Business Career Pathway and Technology Career Pathway) - (Grant Funded)
Description:
This grant-funded position will primarily focus on advising select students within Burlington High School who have elected to focus their high school studies on developing their business acumen or technology skills. You will meet with and advise students (Grades 10 - 12) to discuss their:
- Career interests and plans
- Need for academic support
- Guidance on developing their resume as they prepare for 4th quarter senior internship
- Support in the creation of the student's portfolios (in preparation for internships/college applications/jobs)
The preferred background is someone who enjoys working with teens and has applicable professional experience in management, human resources, sales/marketing, technology, or finance. Advisors should have excellent organizational and communication skills.
Some advisors will also assist in developing partnerships with local businesses to help secure guest speakers, industry tours, and industry mentors and/or internships.
The position will be needed from summer (for a few hours of pre-planning) through the entire school year.
Dates/Times:
- School hours will be weekly starting mid-September through the end of the school year from 1-2 PM daily on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays at the High School to meet one-on-one with their roster of assigned Pathway students.
- There may be some additional planning meetings either in person or virtually with the Burlington High School Business Career Pathway or Technology Career Pathway staff.
- Additional hours may be available in the Spring when seniors go out on Internships or do capstone projects.
Compensation:
In accordance with the BEA Unit A contract at the hourly rate of $40.
Additional hours may be available for some advisors if the scope of the work changes.
