The Therapeutic Recreation Personal Care Attendant provides medically necessary hands-on assistance with activities of daily living (ADLs) and instrumental activities of daily living (IADLs) to children or adults with a disability enrolled in recreation programming.

Under the supervision of Therapeutic Recreation Specialist assists in the coordination of and supervises community based recreation programming for children and adults with disabilities. Responsibilities include :
- Assists participants with activities and with any accommodations needed
- Gathers and prepares information for reports and as needed; completes necessary incidents and accident forms
- Provides observations and advice to the Therapeutic Recreation Specialist to help improve the inclusion of participants
- Attends staff meeting as required
- Supports the implementation of behavioral plans
- Provided below are lists of ADLs and IADLs covered under the Burlington Parks & Recreation Departments PCA program. These are the types of ADLs and IADLs that a participant may request you to perform :
Mobility, including transferring participants
Supervision :
Works under the general direction of the Therapeutic Recreation Specialist. Performs functions that require the exercise of considerable initiative, creativity, and independent judgment in planning, administering, and delivering programming, and in directing personnel.
