What are the responsibilities and job description for the Welder/Fabricator position at Burlington?
Burlington Industries, a leader in producing military fabrics, is looking for an experienced Welder/Fabricator to join its manufacturing operation in Raeford, NC. The primary functions of this position are to maintain and fabricate new steel fixtures and jigs which are used in the operating systems of the facility. This is done using electric arc welding equipment, ox/acetylene torch and minor forming tools. Rod Welding (stick), Mig and Welding mild steels to ¾ inch. This position is part of our Maintenance Department.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- To fabricate steel fixtures for production operation
- Modify existing jigs as required by the production operation.
- To submit drawings or sketches, parts and/or material list for the creation of new fixtures/jigs; or for the repair of existing units
- Lead or direct others in the construction of new or repair fixtures.
- Assist the Maintenance Department in repair and fabrication, as required.
- Perform general buildings and grounds maintenance as required.
- Maintain the work area in a clean, safe, and orderly condition.
- Follow established company rules and regulations and safety precautions.
- Understand, maintain, and perform work according to quality and environmental standards.
- Additional Skills/Tasks may be added to meet the business need.
Required Qualifications
- Have a minimum of 2 years’ experience in fabrication and maintenance and working within continuous process production systems.
- Good time management and proven multi-tasking skills.
- Demonstrate initiative, sense of urgency and is self-motivated when addressing work tasks.
- Successful candidates will interview for: Mechanical, Welding, Electrical and numerical aptitude; space visualization and perceptual speed.
- Solid trouble shooting and problem-solving skills.
- Basic verbal communication skills and report writing skills.
- Must obtain Welding Certification
Preferred Qualifications
- High School Diploma/GED
- Welding Certification
- Heavy fabrication, industrial welding, including general maintenance experience.

Work Environment and Physical Demands
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts, wet conditions, hot and cold environment.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to move throughout the facility including in uneven terrain. Duties also require moving items up to 75lbs.

This position works on a 10-hr. schedule. 7a-5p on 5-6 days per week.
