Key Responsibilities
- Build and Grow a Book of Business: Establish and maintain relationships with clients, identifying new business opportunities and developing strategies to increase revenue.
- Manage Agency Relationships: Serve as the primary point of contact for agencies, providing exceptional service and ensuring seamless communication.
- Create and Execute Marketing Plans: Develop and implement marketing strategies to attract new business and increase renewal sales.
- Rate, Quote, and Bind Risks: Analyze complex risks, determine acceptability, coverage, and pricing, and submit underwriting referrals to management.
- Monitor Key Metrics: Track key performance indicators, such as new business hit, renewal retention, premium growth, and loss ratio, and make data-driven decisions to improve results.
- Lead, Train, and Develop Assistant and Associate Underwriters: Mentor and guide junior underwriters, providing training and guidance to help them develop their skills and advance in their careers.
Qualifications and Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree or Equivalent: A degree in a relevant field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Minimum 3 Years of Commercial Lines Underwriting Experience: Proven experience in commercial lines underwriting, with a focus on excess & surplus lines preferred.
- Demonstrated Proficiency in Sales and Marketing: Strong sales and marketing skills, with a proven track record of success in generating new business and driving revenue growth.
- Proven Organization Skills and Attention to Detail: Excellent organizational skills, with a strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Interest in Continued Education and Professional Development: A commitment to ongoing learning and professional development, with a desire to stay up-to-date on industry trends and best practices.
- Insurance License, CPCU, CIC, or Comparable Designations: Industry certifications, such as CPCU, CIC, or comparable designations, preferred but not required.
