Job Purpose:
The Restaurant Expo plays a crucial role in ensuring the smooth and efficient operation of the restaurant by coordinating the flow of food orders between the kitchen and dining area. They work closely with the kitchen staff, servers, and management to maintain accuracy, efficiency, and consistency in serving guests. The Expo is responsible for overseeing the final presentation of dishes, quality control, and timely delivery to the guests.
Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Order Coordination:
-Receive and review food orders from servers to ensure accuracy and completeness.
-Communicate with the kitchen staff to relay any modifications, special requests, or timing requirements.
-Coordinate timing of orders to ensure all items for a table are prepared and ready to be served together.
2. Quality Control:
-Inspect dishes for accuracy, presentation, and adherence to established food quality standards.
-Verify that each dish has the proper garnishes, sauces, and accompaniments before sending it to the dining area.
-Ensure that food is cooked and served at the appropriate temperature to maintain quality and freshness.
3. Timing and Efficiency:
-Monitor the pace of the kitchen to ensure timely preparation and delivery of orders.
-Keep track of each table's order status and communicate any delays or issues to the servers and management.
-Coordinate with servers to manage the precise timing of food delivery for multiple tables.
4. Communication and Collaboration:
-Maintain open and effective communication with the kitchen staff, servers, and management team.
-Collaborate with the servers to address any questions, concerns, or modifications from guests.
-Assist in coordinating special requests, such as dietary restrictions or allergies, with the kitchen staff.
5. Knowledge and Adaptability:
-Familiarize oneself with the menu items, ingredients, and preparation methods to answer questions and address guest inquiries.
-Stay updated on menu changes, daily specials, and seasonal offerings.
-Adapt to changes in the kitchen's workflow and adjust order coordination accordingly.
6. Cleanliness and Organization:
-Ensure the expo station is properly stocked with necessary supplies, including plates, utensils, napkins, and garnishes.
-Maintain a clean and organized expo station, including the removal of empty plates, garbage, and other debris.
-Assist with general cleaning tasks and restocking as needed.
Qualifications and Requirements:
-Previous experience as a restaurant expo or in a similar role is preferred.
-Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
-Strong attention to detail and a commitment to delivering high-quality food and service.
-Knowledge of food safety and hygiene practices to ensure proper handling of food items.

-Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays, as per the restaurant's schedule.
