What are the responsibilities and job description for the Industrial Pipefitter position at Burt Process Equipment?
The Plumber is responsible for building equipment for neutralizing and moving industrial wastewater, purifying water for: industrial, pharmaceutical, educational, and municipal uses and equipment for the collection and use of ground and rain water. The Plumber will assemble and install pipe systems, pipe supports, and related hydraulic and pneumatic equipment for industrial production and processing systems.
Essential Functions:
- Install, repair, and maintain pipes, valves, and fittings in commercial and industrial structures.
- Identifying and diagnosing plumbing problems using appropriate tools and techniques.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings.
- Cut, thread, and assemble pipe to specifications, using tools such as saws, pipe threaders, and benders.
- Assemble and secure pipes, tubes, fittings, and related equipment according to specifications, by welding, brazing, cementing, soldering, and threading joints.
- Attach pipes to structures and fixtures, such as tanks, using brackets, clamps, tools, or welding equipment.
- Inspect, examine, and test installed systems and pipelines using pressure gauge, hydrostatic testing, and observation.
- Measure and mark pipes for cutting and threading.
- Lay out full-scale drawings of pipe systems, supports, and related equipment, following blueprints.
- Plan pipe system layout, installation, or repair according to specifications.
- Ensure all work meets safety standards and follows best practices.
- Select pipe sizes, types, and related materials, such as supports, hangers, and hydraulic cylinders, according to specifications.
- Install automatic controls used to regulate pipe systems.
- Verifying dimensions using measuring instruments (tape measure, rulers, framing, and t squares, etc..) for layouts.
- Familiarity with the intricacies of working with PVC, CPVC, cast iron, and copper.
Minimum Qualifications:
- High School Diploma (required)
- 1-3 years of experience in related field
- Knowledge of plastics, steel, and custom fabrication
- Knowledge in plumbing, mechanical, carpentry, welding, and mechanical drawings
- Pipe fitting certificate for plastics or steel (preferred)
- Familiar with fabricating equipment and machinery
- General knowledge of equipment safety and operation (OSHA 10, LOTO, Confined space, fall protection, and Forklift, etc..)
Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to safely operate a forklift
- Must be able to lift 75 lbs.
- Must be able to sit for long periods of time
- Must be able to walk and be on feet 80% of the day
- Must be able to bend, reach, kneel and squat

Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $23.00 - $28.00 per hour
