Position Title: Warehouse Assistant
Department: Shipping
Reports To: Shipping Manager
Level: Entry
FLSA Status: Hourly Non-Exempt
Position Summary: In this position, you will be working across multiple teams and be one of the faces of Burt Process Equipment. You will support the coordination of customer and supplier shipments between our logistic partners. You will track and report inventory transactions through cycle counts. You will liaison between the supplier and Burt on underage and overage shipments, as well as the status of outstanding purchase orders.
Essential Functions:
- Accurately execute shipments, while escalating to coordinators problematic shipments.
- Adhere to work procedures, work schedules, and maintain workflow.
- Complete all day-to-day shipping and receiving activities.
- Contact suppliers for status of late shipments, using procurement screens.
- Direct movement of shipments from shipping and receiving platform to storage and work areas.
- Generate freight quotes for order coordinators.
- Notify shipping manager when parts are incorrectly delivered, received, or if incoming shipments are damaged.
- Perform all restocking activities including restocking the shelves and rearranging products as needed.
- Post weight and shipping charges against shipments.
- Register all product arrivals accurately and within the timeframes provided by the shipping manager.
- Report any inconsistencies or delays in communication between internal teams.
- Safely use pallet jacks, hand trucks, roller ladders and forklifts when needed.
- Work with returns team on filing damaged shipment claims.
- Work with the supplier and procurement on resolving shortages and overages.
Knowledge & Skills:
- Ability to manage one’s time.
- Can work independently, as well as be a part of a team.
- Individuals are detail-oriented, proactive, and organized.
- Knowledge of the region, and warehouse standards.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Two years of warehouse experience (preferred)
- Familiar with UPS WorldShip, FedEx, T-Force.
- Knowledge of weight scales.
- Forklift certificate (preferred)
- High school diploma (required)
Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to safely operate a forklift, hand truck, roller ladder and pallet jack.
- Must be able to lift 50 lbs. unaided.
- Must be able to walk and be on feet 85% of the day.
- Must be able to type, bend, reach and stand for long periods of time.
Environment:
- Typical industrial warehouse setting.
- Routinely use standard office equipment such as computers, phones, copiers, printers, fax machines etc.
