Role and Responsibilities
The East Texas Trucking Operations Regional Manager reports to the CEO and is accountable for all aspects of the East Texas (ETX) Trucking line of business’ operations, including safety, financial, shop, personnel and customer satisfaction performance in pursuit of business goals and strategies. Performance is assessed in the maintenance of a balanced operational scorecard (inclusive of financials), progress on annual strategic initiatives and continuous improvement.
Responsibilities include:
- Lead and improve Burton’s ETX Trucking Operations for predictable performance and growth, aligning with Burton’s values, strategies, personnel, and financial plans.
- Ensure full and appropriate utilization of company equipment and labor.
- Set goals, mentor, and coach employees to assist in meeting established goals.
- Participate in strategic planning and collaborate with other managers and staff members to formulate and implement policies, procedures, goals, and objectives.
- Active participant in the development and implementation of annual and long-term strategic plans to maximize business and employee performance while upholding Burton’s strong brand and reputation.
- Work with Sales Team to improve revenue and profitability.
- Establish a high-performing ETX Trucking Team to deliver best-in-class performance and strong profitability.
- Establish and foster a robust culture of safety, quality, and consistent values, leading by example.
- Collaborate closely with others in the company to align and unify cross-functional efforts for effective business planning, execution, communication, and continuous improvement.
- Other duties, as assigned.
Qualifications and Competencies
- 5 years’ experience in Trucking Operations and Management.
- Comprehensive knowledge of regulations impacting daily operations (i.e., national/state DOT regulations).
- Proven ability to train, supervise, evaluate, and provide work direction and guidance to others.
- Demonstrated ability to navigate conflict and build consensus via application of business acumen, strategic insight, a can-do attitude, and sense of urgency.
- Outstanding (complex) problem-solving and decision-making skills.
- Working knowledge of oilfield and trucking principles and systems.
- Effective verbal and written communicator across stakeholder groups.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Outlook, Excel and PowerPoint.
Work/Environment and Physical Requirements (with or without an accommodation)
- Shop, Field, and Office environment, using computer, telephone, other office equipment as needed to perform duties, frequent interruptions throughout day likely.
- Essential: continuous sitting, standing, wrist turning, grasping, pinching, and finger manipulation, frequent turning and twisting, and occasional reaching.
- Weather elements can be extreme cold, heat and wind.
- Occasionally required to lift or carry up to 50 lbs. push/pull occasionally required for up to 50 lbs.
- Hearing and vision (both correctable) are essential.
