Position Overview
Trinitas Cellars, is seeking an experienced and dynamic professional to join our team as the Tasting Room Manager. This role is pivotal in driving revenue, elevating the guest experience, and promoting the winery in alignment with our standards of excellence. The Tasting Room Manager will lead a small team, develop strategic initiatives to increase traffic, sales performance, and ensure an exemplary customer experience in every interaction. This position also serves as the point of contact for selling and booking private and large group events, both on-site and off-site, representing a significant revenue opportunity.

Tasting Room Manager
Primary Responsibilities
Sales & Revenue Goals
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive outreach and sales strategy to drive qualified traffic, increase tasting room sales, and grow wine club memberships. Collaborate with the Executive Management team to achieve or exceed annual revenue and membership targets.
  • Analyze sales data and inventory depletion to create targeted sales initiatives and adjust strategies as needed. Regularly review and report on performance metrics, such as average order value, conversion rates, and customer acquisition. Meet with direct reports regularly to review key metrics.
  • Lead a team that actively promotes our wine club, effectively presents membership benefits, and is equipped to meet sales goals. Communicate sales goals and results on a weekly basis with the team.
  • Actively market and promote private and large group events to grow revenue streams, ensuring timely follow-up with prospective clients and successful event execution.
Event Hosting & Coordination
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for selling, booking, and hosting private and large group events, both on-site and off-site.
  • Collaborate with clients to customize event experiences that align with their needs while showcasing our wines and hospitality.
  • Manage delegation the administrative aspects of event coordination, including blocking off the reservation system, sending credit card links, getting supplies.
  • Execute FAM trips for large groups in order to secure future bookings.
  • Work closely with the operations and culinary teams to ensure seamless execution of events, from planning through completion.
  • Develop partnerships with local businesses, hotels, and venues to drive group bookings and maintain a strong referral network.
Team Leadership & Development
  • Recruit, train, and mentor a team of full time, part time and on call tasting/event associates. Provide coaching on customer engagement, sales techniques, and product knowledge, fostering a culture of high performance and accountability.
  • Establish processes and delegate responsibilities as needed to optimize efficiency and allow the team to focus on broader strategic goals.
  • Maintain scheduling and staffing levels to align with business needs, proactively managing labor efficiency.
  • Ensure compliance with dress code and professionalism standards to maintain the upscale image of our winery, setting the example by adhering to and reinforcing these standards.
  • Conduct regular performance reviews and manage any corrective action, including Performance Improvement Plans, as necessary.
Guest Experience & Service Standards
  • Create a welcoming, customer-centric environment. Lead the team in delivering best-in-class service, from offering a warm welcoming to ensuring guests have a complete understanding of our offerings and wine club benefits.
  • Proactively pre-plan seasonal events and tastings, and communicate with the General Manager and marketing team to ensure success and customer awareness.
  • Implement and uphold service protocols to provide a consistently outstanding guest experience, including presenting and tracking review cards, offering wine club collateral, and proactively asking for sales.
  • Respond to guest feedback and resolve service issues to maintain a positive reputation.
  • Regularly review mystery shopper reports to assess service quality and identify areas for improvement, ensuring that team members understand and adhere to customer service expectations.
Inventory Management & Site Operations
  • Partner with the inventory coordinator to ensure tasting room inventory needs are met.
  • Order basic tasting room supplies, from bottle carriers to hand towels, ensuring all necessary items are available for seamless operations.
  • Manage the food ordered for wine pairings and cheese boards, ensuring freshness, quality, and timely availability.
  • Help craft new, compelling offerings on a seasonal basis while minimizing food waste.
  • Work with the General Manager on retail merchandise ordering, designing displays, and managing overstock inventory to ensure effective use of space and product rotation. Pick up new inventory shipped to the office when possible.
  • Ensure timely and accurate inventory reporting for month-end closing and price book updates.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and stocked tasting room that reflects the premium brand image of the winery.
Community & Industry Engagement
  • Establish and maintain relationships with local hotels, tasting rooms, and industry partners to drive traffic to the tasting room and corporate events through strategic collaborations.
  • Ensure participation in local wine events and hotel/B&B pourings.
  • Participate in off-site events and local industry functions as a representative of the winery, including CANVA, BANG, and Napa Chamber of Commerce.
Requirements
  • Minimum of three years of tasting room management experience, with a proven record of meeting or exceeding revenue and membership targets.
  • Strong leadership skills, with the ability to inspire, mentor, and hold team members accountable for performance.
  • Demonstrated experience in developing and implementing sales strategies and enhancing customer experiences.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written. Ability to provide clear direction, constructive feedback, and follow up on action items.
  • Strong organizational skills, with an ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Experience working with inventory management systems and the ability to analyze data for strategic decision-making.
  • Availability to work weekends, holidays, and evenings as required.
Physical Demands
  • This role is active and involves frequent standing, walking, and using hands for tasks such as pouring wine, handling inventory, and serving guests. You’ll also be required to lift and move cases of wine, weighing up to 45 pounds. For any items over 45 pounds, assistance should be requested to ensure safe handling.
