How You'll Make An Impact:
The Controller will handle high-level accounting, managerial accounting, and oversee the financial activities of the company. As head of the accounting department, the Controller will manage and supervise all aspects of accounting from payroll to tax compliance. Role will assist with the development of internal control policies, procedures, and financial planning as needed.
Key Duties/Responsibilities/Accountabilities
- Manage all aspects of the accounting and monthly close processes; general ledger, revenue recognition, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and full account reconciliation
- Maintain a documented system of accounting policies and procedures
- Oversee payroll process and all related tax and compliance obligations
- Monitor cash balances and funding requirements for operations. Oversee all payments made for debts, bank loans, and other obligations
- Prepare monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements
- Prepare budget v actual and other management reports
- Manage full process for external financial audit
- Manage compliance with local, state, and federal laws regarding finances, tax filings, and reporting
- Responsible for hiring, developing and managing accounting staff
- Perform ad hoc analysis and assist with annual budget preparation
- Other duties as assigned
What Bushel Is Looking For:
- Ability to manage full accounting close, including organization and delegation of tasks across the accounting team
- Ability to analyze financial results to identify trends and anomalies.
- Strong management skills
- Ability to communicate effectively with senior management
- Strong written and oral communication skills
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
- At least 5 years of prior experience with either prior role(s) as Controller or role(s) with demonstrated escalation in accounting responsibilities
- Advanced working knowledge of accounting principles and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
- Strong experience with revenue recognition issues, particularly in a SaaS environment
- Proficiency utilizing accounting software systems
- Proficiency utilizing Microsoft Excel and Google Sheets
