Job Summary :
Under the direction of the Dean of Admission, the Admissions Counselor will recruit incoming first year and transfer students, be responsible for providing information regarding the University to prospective students, travel to various cities in and outside of Oregon, make presentations to high schools and community colleges, connect with staff and faculty, assist with the coordination of recruitment events, review applications, communicate with students, select qualified applicants, and make recommendations regarding admissions and scholarships as appropriate.
The Admissions Counselor performance is measured on overall objectives and goals set by the Dean of Admission.
Position Duties and Responsibilities :
- Execute recruiting activities for designated territory.
- Travel to various cities and make presentations to high schools and community colleges; participate in college fairs; answer questions regarding the admission process and the University; make travel and lodging arrangements as necessary.
- Read and evaluate applications; assure applicant credentials meet qualifications for admission; select qualified applicants and make recommendations regarding admissions and awarding of scholarships to Dean of Admission
- Maintain accurate data within the admission database (Salesforce / JRM) for admission and financial aid information and record all communication with students throughout the admission process
- Meet with prospective students and families and follow up with students as needed.
- Make, receive and respond to various phone calls, e-mails, texts, and other student contact; respond to inquiries regarding scholarships, financial aid, admissions process and related matters.
- Coordinate and conduct tours of the campus when needed.
- Prepare and maintain records and reports related to assigned activities.
- Participate in the development of marketing materials including letters, emails, brochures, social media, and fliers.
- Train, supervise, and provide work direction to assigned student staff.
- Assist with the planning, coordination, and implementation of admission and recruitment related events onsite or virtually.
- Communicate effectively and work collaboratively with departments across campus to successfully register, on-board and enroll new students to the University.
- Operate a computer, copier, fax and other office equipment as assigned.
- Perform related duties as assigned.
Experience and Qualification Requirements :
A Bachelor's Degree and some experience in an admissions office or in a university / college setting is preferred.
