Work Schedule: 1st Shift: 6:00 AM - 4:30 PM, Monday – Friday, Routine shift hours with occasional overtime, weekend work, or shift rotation as needed.
Role Overview:
- As a Tooling Technician, you will be responsible for repairing and building tools, jigs, and fixtures to support change notices and new product development launches.
- Your expertise in troubleshooting hydraulic, pneumatic, and mechanical issues will be vital.
- Additionally, you will assist in training new employees and uphold a clean and safe working environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Read and interpret Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) on prints to construct tools.
- Communicate effectively with co-workers to maintain a safe working environment.
- Embrace tooling challenges to contribute to the company's success.
- Follow written and verbal instructions to complete tasks efficiently.
- Lift and move parts of varying weights safely.
- Prioritize and complete work orders effectively.
- Inspect and troubleshoot hydraulic, plumbing, and mechanical issues.
- Repair and replace components on jigs and fixtures.
- Operate cranes, hoists, forklifts, and other facility vehicles safely.
- Inspect equipment before, during, and after operation.
- Operate shop equipment, including CNC lathe, CNC mill, drilling, and saw machines.
- Transport tools, parts, and equipment safely within the facility.
- Utilize a variety of hand and power tools.
- Report repair statuses to department supervisors.
- Communicate using handheld radios with other technicians and supervisors.
- Assist co-workers with heavy lifting tasks.
- Maintain cleanliness and safety in the shop area.
- Work overtime and weekends during planned shutdowns to meet project deadlines.
- Support SMS audits and perform preventive maintenance on jigs.
- Collaborate closely with engineers and adapt to new strategies.
Basic Qualifications:
- Certified Senior Welder.
- Forklift Certified.
- Minimum of 5 years of welding experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience operating CNC machines in a jigs shop.
- Ability to perform work accurately while maintaining high safety and quality standards.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Proficiency in identifying and reacting to abnormal operating conditions.
- Capability to use and wear personal protective equipment as required.
- Ability to lift and manipulate parts/equipment weighing up to 80 pounds.
- Tolerance for standing, sitting, kneeling, and working in confined spaces.
- Good hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity.
- Safe and effective operation of heavy equipment.
- Organizational skills to manage prints and track parts.
- Time management skills to meet deadlines.
Physical Demands:
- Frequent standing, walking, sitting, reaching, hearing, talking, and visual tasks.
- Occasional climbing, bending, kneeling, and lifting up to 80 pounds.
