Typical Day in the Role

  • Purpose of the Team: This team is part of the executive communications team for the President of the small, medium, and corporate sales organization. Their primary responsibilities include managing executive engagement, internal and external keynotes, meetings and presentations with customers and partners, social media for the executive, and internal communications. They also set the guidance and structure for communication specialists representing each of the regional executives under the President.
  • Key projects: This role will contribute to drafting and reviewing content, leading the QA process, assisting with program management, managing information on SharePoint.
  • Typical task breakdown and operating rhythm: The role will consist of 1) meetings, weekly cadences for team projects, writing blitzes, and leading the QA process for drafted content 2) content management, managing and maintaining documentation on the team’s writing style, ensuring adherence to MSFT and team-specific style guides 3) publications, publishing content on internal social sites like Viva Engage and the organization’s SharePoint site 4) SharePoint management, assisting with content creation, governance, archiving old content, etc. 5) Proofreading and editing 6) writing and storyboarding, supporting ad hoc projects, writing content and creating storyboards for videos and other media.

Candidate Requirements

  • Years of Experience Required: 8-10 overall years of experience in the field.
  • Degrees or certifications required: No specific degree is required to be eligible for this role.
  • Disqualifiers: Candidates with typos and/or grammatical errors will not be eligible for the role.
  • Best vs. Average: The ideal resume would contain 1) Previous High-Tech or Executive Office Experience: Experience working in the office of the president or in high-tech environments would be advantageous, 2) Writing Samples: Examples of previous work, such as LinkedIn articles or other published content, to showcase writing ability.
  • Performance Indicators: Performance will be assessed based on 1) Quality of Work: Delivering high-quality content and peak experiences, both internally and externally. 2) Responsiveness to Feedback: Quickly adapting to feedback, especially regarding adherence to style guides and quality standards. 3) Stakeholder Satisfaction: Ensuring satisfaction from internal stakeholders and maintaining a well-organized SharePoint site. 4) First Draft Quality: The quality of initial drafts and the effectiveness of editing and proofreading.

Top 3 Hard Skills Required Years of Experience

  • Minimum 8-10 years experience with written communication, including working with writing style guides.
  • Minimum 8-10 years experience with Microsoft 365 tools, including PowerPoint, Word, Teams, Sharepoint, etc.
  • Minimum 8-10 years experience with Quality Assurance, Experience in quality assurance for content, ensuring adherence to style guides and maintaining high standards.

Summary:

  • The main function of a Communications Specialist is to assist corporate communications with message development, writing, and editing.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for ensuring timely, creative and accurate dissemination of news, multimedia content and information
  • Create a variety of content for platforms, ensuring quality, accuracy and effective storytelling that aligns with corporate messaging
  • Forecast and track marketing and sales trends, analyzing collected data.
  • Works closely with Client's Product corporate sales team to write and finalize monthly and annual press release.

Skills:

  • Verbal and written communication skills, negotiation skills, customer service and interpersonal skills.
  • Basic ability to work independently and manage one’s time.
  • Basic knowledge of principles and methods for showing, promoting, and selling products or services.
  • Basic knowledge of media production, communication and dissemination techniques and methods.

Education/Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in marketing or equivalent training preferred.
  • 8-10 years related experience required.

Job Types: Contract, Temporary

Pay: $60.77 - $65.04 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week
