JOB SUMMARY :
We are currently looking for an Lab Instrumentation Engineer who can design and build the equipment needed for the precision testing of our fire and CO detection products. In this role, you will also support the maintenance and calibration of our equipment, at both of our Colorado and Florida sites, in addition to overseeing the Florida facility and its maintenance. You will use a wide variety of skills to keep the lab operational and continuously becoming more efficient and effective. The position requires up to 25% travel to our site in Colorado Springs, CO, during the first 6-8 months, to learn and get familiar with the test equipment located at that location. Up to 2-3 weeks at a time.
RESPONSIBILITIES :
- Support the Development, Calibration and Maintenance of our test equipment and maintenance of our Colorado and Florida lab sites.
- Design, build and control test lab test equipment and Instruments
- Work with the Instrumentation Engineers to incorporate Instruments in new test equipment.
- Work with the different cross-functional groups at Kidde to understand instrumentation projects needs and timelines; including but not limited to Mechanical, Electrical, Firmware, Product Test, Production, Quality and Project Management teams.
- Communicate the progress of instrumentation projects to the Kidde team and leadership
- Lead design reviews for test equipment development.
- Collaborate with design team and test engineers to verify lab equipment meets testing procedures for fire and gas detection products.
- Drive tasks closure to meet company and customer goals.
- Review agency requirements to ensure equipment compliance to agency standards
- Support team to become UL WTDP / DAP (witness test data program / data acceptance program).
- Collaborate with the team and share ideas on process improvement
- Ensure that all Kidde test equipment, at all sites, are correlated and produce similar test results.
- Prioritize continuous improvement initiatives by focusing on the automation of test equipment and improving instrumentation projects processes.
