Adult Ed Instructor - KDOC (part-time)
Job Duties
Butler Community College is seeking a part-time adult education instructor. This position is responsible for GED preparation instruction, adult basic education, literacy instruction, Integrated Education and Training instruction, and college readiness at Butler Community College and other outreach locations, in addition to teaching other content such as basic technology, work readiness, and placement test preparation as needed.
The specific locations are El Dorado Correctional Facility (EDCF- a maximum security prison) and the El Dorado College campus. The instructor will act as the liaison between outreach location staff (EDCF) and Butler of El Dorado staff to effectively and efficiently provide Adult Education services as required by the Adult and Family Literacy Act (AEFLA) and the Kansas Board of Regents (KBOR).
This position will work as a team with the director, data entry person and other instructional staff to deliver curriculum, administer appropriate assessment(s), conduct follow-up, and to maintain and update records required for effective and efficient delivery of program services. Instructor may be asked to occasionally substitute for other instructors and perform routine office procedures as needed. Program standards require the employee to actively participate in professional development activities for the Kansas Board of Regents. This is a continuing long-term grant-funded position.

H. Knowledge of teaching in a correctional setting preferred.

Required educational background
Bachelor’s degree in Secondary Education, Elementary Education, Special Education, Criminal Justice, Social Work or related field.
