Adult Ed Instructor
Job Duties
The Adult Ed Instructor is responsible for instruction of literacy, adult basic education, college readiness and GED preparation instruction at Butler Community College locations and other outreach locations, in addition to other content such as basic technology, work readiness, and placement test preparation as needed. The specific locations are El Dorado Correctional Facility (EDCF- a maximum security prison) and the El Dorado College campus. This teaching position offices at the El Dorado Correctional Facility. Act as the liaison between outreach location staff and Butler of El Dorado staff to effectively and efficiently provide Adult Education services. Instructor will be held accountable for students acquiring the state average in educational gains plus the five primary goals set by the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act. Will work as a team with the director, data entry person and other instructional staff to develop curriculum, administer appropriate assessment(s), conduct follow-up, and to maintain and update records required for effective and efficient delivery of program services. Instructor may be asked to occasionally substitute for other instructors and perform routine office procedures as needed. Program standards require the employee to actively participate in professional development activities for Kansas Board of Regents trainings and Kansas Adult Education Association credentialing.

G. Ability to create individual study plans based on special needs of students or individual differences and individual goals.
H. Knowledge of teaching in a correctional setting preferred.

A. Previous teaching experience with adults ages 16 and over.
B. Experience with competency-based instructional methods.

Required educational background
Bachelor’s degree in Secondary Education, Elementary Education, Special Education, Criminal Justice or related field.
