STORM WATER INSPECTOR
(FULL TIME, SALARY, NON-EXEMPT)
Wage Range ($50,000 - $66,000)
The Butler County Storm Water District has an opening for a Storm Water Inspector. The Storm Water Inspector will work under the general direction and supervision of the Development Services/Storm Water Manager. The Storm Water Inspector will be required to investigate, evaluate facts and data, enforce and maintain compliance of the county’s storm water management plan as part of the State of Ohio’s National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) Phase II permit program. Work consists of on-site field inspections to determine compliance with the District’s Storm Water Management Plan. The Storm Water Inspector will also participate in Snow and Ice Control as necessary.
The Storm Water District prefers candidates with the following experience:
- Storm Water Compliance Inspections
- Rain Event Inspections
- Familiarity with the Stormwater Construction General Permit in Ohio
- Experience working in the field in all weather conditions
- A general knowledge of the construction industry
- Hazardous Waste Management
- Storm Water Pollution Prevention Plan preparation
- Emergency Action and Spill Control Plans
- Development and Implementation of Corrective Actions
- Ability to read Erosion and Sediment Control and Site Grading plans
- Problem solving for a wide variety of clients and situations
- Ability to learn and apply new regulatory requirements
- Snow and Ice Control
Candidates must demonstrate firsthand experience in the following areas:
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills including e-mail
- Proficient with MS Office including MS Outlook
- Proficient with Foxit PDF or Adobe PDF or similar software
- Basic computer skills
- Possess the ability to traverse a construction job site consisting of uneven ground varying in height and consistency of material and variation in elevation (mud, gravel, rutted ground etc.)
- Be able to wear standard PPE, i.e. hard hats, safety vest, work boots, safety glasses/goggles
Candidates must also have:
- Have or be willing to obtain within 120 days a Class B CDL (Commercial Driver’s License)
- High School Diploma. Related College coursework is preferred.
- Preference will be given to candidates with experience in Environmental Compliance.
