**RESEARCH ASSISTANT POSITION AT BROWN-AFFILIATED BUTLER HOSPITAL**

Butler Hospital's Psychosocial Research Program is hiring a full-time research assistant for a

randomized controlled trial on a mindfulness intervention for individuals with serious mental

illness, such as schizophrenia and major mood disorders. The role also includes additional

research on transitions of care, suicide prevention, and digital health interventions. This is an inperson position.

Candidates should have a bachelor’s degree in psychology, neuroscience, or a related field by

the position's start. This role is ideal for those aiming for graduate or medical school, with

opportunities to publish and present at conferences. Previous research assistants have

successfully gained acceptance into top doctoral programs after this position.

Butler Hospital is associated with Brown University and is located in Providence, RI. Established

Program includes a team of psychologists, a psychiatrist, post-doctoral fellows, research

assistants, master’s-level interventionists, and project coordinators, focusing on federal and

private research grants in areas such as suicide prevention and mindfulness therapies.

Job Description Brown University-affiliated researchers working at Butler Hospital are

seeking to hire a research assistant for a grant-funded, mindfulness

intervention clinical trial for patients with serious mental illness in

outpatient community mental health treatment settings. Responsibilities

include recruiting and tracking research participants, screening electronic

medical records, managing databases, preparing reports, and conducting

research assessments with psychiatric patients. Additional duties include

working with a multidisciplinary team conducting research in a psychiatric

hospital setting. Skills using Microsoft Office, SPSS, and REDCap a plus.

Required Education

Bachelor’s degree in psychology or related field required. Experience with

psychology research and/or working with psychiatric patients desirable.
