The Role
This role combines the strategic vision of a CIO with the operational responsibilities of an IT Director, ensuring the seamless integration of technology into every aspect of our business. This Senior IT Leader position is responsible for leading our technology strategy and operations in a wholesale distribution environment. The ideal candidate will possess a balance of strategic thinking, technical expertise, project management, and hands-on skills to deliver scalable solutions that align IT and business objectives. Experience with SAP ECC6 and SAP S/4HANA is highly desirable, as the role involves guiding the implementation and optimization of enterprise systems that drive efficiency, innovation, and competitive advantage.
Key Responsibilities
- Strategic Leadership
- Develop and execute a comprehensive IT strategy aligned with the organization’s business goals, with a focus on scalability and operational excellence.
- Drive technology initiatives to enhance efficiency, inventory management, and customer engagement in the wholesale distribution sector.
- Lead the organization’s digital transformation, leveraging technology to improve business processes and customer experiences.
- Stay ahead of emerging technologies and assess their potential impact on the organization.
- Technology Management
- Serve as a key liaison between technology and other departments, bridging the gap between technical capabilities and business needs, and ensuring that IT initiatives deliver measurable value.
- Oversee the implementation, optimization, and management of critical enterprise systems, including ERP (SAP preferred), WMS (Warehouse Management Systems), Point-of-Sale, E-Commerce, and other enterprise systems to streamline processes and support business growth.
- Work with cross-functional teams to ensure the integration of SAP with other platforms and operations.
- Develop or update project plans for information technology projects including information such as project objectives, technologies, systems, information specifications, schedules, funding, and staffing.
- Manage project execution to ensure adherence to budget, schedule, and scope.
- Monitor or track project milestones and deliverables.
- Manage IT infrastructure, ensuring robust, secure, and scalable systems to support the organization’s operations.
- Operational Oversight/Governance
- Maintain and improve IT policies, standards, and procedures, ensuring compliance with industry regulations and cybersecurity standards.
- Manage IT service delivery, including vendor relations, procurement, and contract negotiations.
- Manage key business and technology vendors to foster long lasting relationships, ensure quality, minimize risks, and improve service delivery.
- Supervise day-to-day IT operations, ensuring system uptime and data integrity
- Team Leadership
- Build, lead, and mentor a high-performing IT team capable of meeting the demands of the wholesale distribution industry.
- Foster collaboration between IT and other departments, ensuring technology solutions are fully integrated and aligned with business needs.
- Serve as a resource for IT staff, providing hands-on support when needed.
- Financial Oversight
- Develop and manage the IT budget, ensuring cost-effective investments in technology.
- Optimize technology expenditures, focusing on ROI and alignment with business objectives.
Key Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in information technology, Computer Science, Business Administration, or a related field (Master’s preferred).
- Proven experience as a Senior IT leader, with operational responsibilities equivalent to an IT Director.
- Strong ability to lead teams, manage budgets, and influence organizational change.
- Expertise in IT infrastructure, enterprise systems, and cybersecurity best practices.
- Experience managing SAP S/4HANA implementations, migrations, or optimizations is a significant plus.
- Strong knowledge of ERP systems, particularly SAP ECC6 and SAP S/4HANA, and their application in wholesale distribution.
- Excellent leadership, communication, project management, and problem-solving skills.
- Familiarity with WMS, and e-commerce platforms is a plus.
