The Financial Controller oversees the daily operations of the financial department and ensures compliance with company policies for outsourced accounting clients. This role requires an experienced professional with a strong background in managing the financial operations for many fractional clients, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and efficiency. The ideal candidate will be a strategic thinker with a proactive approach to financial management, a passion for implementing innovative accounting processes, while providing leadership and support to the finance team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage and oversee the financial operations for multiple fractional clients, including payable/receivable, general ledger, and treasury, ensuring adherence to company policies and compliance guidelines.
  • Engage directly with external clients and partners
  • Collaborate with Management to gather necessary data for month-end closing and prepare accurate financial statements and reports on time.
  • Perform accounting functions on both cash and accrual basis..
  • Assist Management in developing the annual budget and projecting a 12-month rolling cash flow.
  • Analyze monthly variances in operating results compared to the budget, providing detailed variance reports and explanations.
  • Lead the annual tax/audit preparations and coordinate with external CPA’s.
  • Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal reporting requirements and tax filings.
  • Develop and implement financial policies and procedures to enhance operational efficiency using AI and other technology solutions.
  • Manage and monitor all financial commitments, including contracts and leases.
  • Supervise bi-weekly payroll processes in conjunction with Management, ensuring timeliness, accuracy, and appropriate journal entries for payroll allocation.
  • Implement cost control measures under the direction of Management and closely monitor cash flow and expenses.
  • Provide supervision, support, and training to direct reports, including accounts payable/receivable clerks, payroll clerks, and junior/cost accountants.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA or CMA preferred.
  • At least 5 years of experience in financial management within trades, professional services, healthcare, and manufacturing
  • Proficiency in QuickBooks Desktop - Enterprise and Excel; experience with ERP systems and cloud computing solutions is a plus.
  • Strong understanding of job costing, WIP, financial statement analysis, cash flow, and cost control principles.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of staffing, labor policies, and cost allocation.
  • Expertise in Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Effective, collaborative communication and leadership skills, with experience managing a team.
  • Excellent time management skills and responsiveness to time-sensitive requests from senior management and external stakeholders.
  • Proven ability to deliver high-quality results promptly.
