This position is remotely based with anticipated travel up to 15% per year. We are unable to offer work sponsorship for this role.
The Technical Manager, Food Safety, will support the Food Safety Director and will be responsible for food safety technical affairs. This role will mostly not be customer facing but will be managing work to support customer facing initiatives and projects. This role will work closely with the Director of Food Safety to ensure the thorough and timely completion of technical food safety projects and initiatives. This role will also lead and manage larger technical initiatives to support the entire Fresh Services Food Safety Team and the Fresh Division.
Your impact:
- Keep up with food safety regulations and best practices and provide expertise in these areas.
- Responsible for the FSQA portion of RFP development, FSQA legal review of documents, and FSQA review of expectation manuals as assigned.
- Manage the status and completion of Technical Audit Reviews as assigned.
- Manage and provide direction and accountability to traceability projects.
- Manage and report on customer and supplier complaint management.
- Manage other projects assigned to support the Fresh Division Food Safety team at large.
- Create and maintain time bound task lists for this role and potentially for others.
- Assist the Director to manage the Second Party Audit program at Supplier or Distributor locations.
- Assist in continuous improvement of department policies, procedures, and systems.
- Assist with ESG initiatives and provide expertise in this field.
- Assist, or lead when needed, Food Safety Events such as Recalls/Outbreaks/Market Withdrawals.
- Attend and participate in department and company meetings.
- Possibly attend food safety conferences and engage in industry associations.
- Maintain strong, positive, professional relationships with all stakeholders.
About you:
- Bachelor’s Degree required or equivalent experience.
- Expected 3-5 years of experience in food safety related field of work, technical work experience required.
- Work experience required to be in fields of Foodservice, Distribution, Grower Shippers, or Manufacturer level servicing food service operations.
- Experience with 2nd and or 3rd party safety audits required, preference to SQF, Primus or other GFSI accredited schemes.
- Experience with Produce food safety regulations is strongly preferred.
- Experience with Meat and Seafood regulations preferred
