What are the responsibilities and job description for the Member Service Representative/Teller position at BVA Federal Credit Union?
GENERAL SUMMARY
The MSR/Teller is the point of contact for the majority of in-person and telephone-initiated transactions and inquires by members. Therefore, the MSR/Teller must be able to maintain a professional demeanor, be punctual with attendance and assignments, provide consistent quality service, and maintain a friendly and cooperative working environment. Be an energetic, customer service-oriented individual. Employee must have the ability to listen, communicate and recognize the needs of individuals, while offering a warm and friendly in-branch and telephone experience.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
· Greet and welcome members and visitors to the credit union in a courteous and professional manner and provide prompt, efficient, and accurate service in the processing of transactions.
Provide in-person and by-telephone general and specific service-related information concerning credit union services or policies.
· Respond to members’ requests and complaints, or direct them to the proper person for specific information and assistance.
· Perform all aspects of everyday OTC (Over-the-counter) transactions needed to ensure members have efficient and correct service to their accounts and their financial needs within the scope of normal account activity, adding new responsibilities as time and training continue.
· Open new accounts and service existing accounts. Set up new account files and provide members with all necessary information (Current New Member Kit) for membership.
· Handle requests from members for all types of transfers, process loan payments, share savings and draft checking deposits/withdrawals, check requests, and any other requests received from members.
· Advise Management of inconsistencies, member recommendations and cash discrepancies. Follow set procedure for whom to inform at what level and follow through for resolution(s).
· Offer suggestions through proper chain of command regarding changes that will improve service to members.
· Process member mail transactions in a timely manner.
· Mail receipts and checks to members as indicated by policy and procedure.
· Shred check bundles from daily transactions according to the set schedule.
· Process address maintenance according to policy and procedure and forward copies to appropriate personnel if needed.
· Assist members in balancing their accounts.
· Verify that proper paperwork for title release is with any loan payoffs for auto, etc. loans and that paperwork is sent to the Loan Processor in a timely manner.
· Maintain and verify all logs are properly filled out with correct information that is corresponding to the proper transaction.
· Continue training and notetaking to ensure always having the most current information for transaction processing, products, policies, etc.
· Assist with closing/end-of-day procedures for the branch – all clear signal, daily work, etc.
· Maintain knowledge about the proper procedure to respond to a holdup or burglary.
· Completes annual mandatory compliance and other trainings.
· Adheres to all policies and procedures described in the Employee Handbook.
· Assist with making sure the office is always a clean, professional, environment and decorations or signage is appropriate. Assist maintaining proper disclosures and/or signs required to be posted are always present. (I.e. - NCUA insured, Availability of Funds Policy, Mission Statement, etc.)
· Assists with all other duties required by Management.
JOB SPECIFICATIONS
· Requires interpersonal skills necessary for oral and written communication with members, coworkers, and management.
· Requires completion of high school education; previous MSR/Teller experience is beneficial but not required.
· Requires intermediate mathematical skills (calculations and concepts involving percentages, fractions, decimals, etc.).
· Must have initiative and drive to solve routine problems independently.
· Must be able to follow instructions and complete work efficiently with minimal supervision.
· Must be bondable by the credit unions insurance provider.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $14.00 - $19.00 per hour
