Fabrication Saw Operator
$1,500 Retention Bonus and 80 Hours of Paid Time Off after first 90 days of employment
JOB SUMMARY
Sets up and operates metal sawing machines to cut metal stock to dimensions per blueprint and/or work orders.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Actively observe and promote BWise safety standards.
- Obtain specifications for operation from work orders.
- Obtain raw materials from material handler or pick-up operations’ raw materials using material moving equipment (i.e., forklift, hand jack, etc.)
- If required, use hoist to move raw materials to operation point.
- Using saw, cut steel stock to exact length specifications;
- Installs saw blade and sets blade tension and cutting speed for specified operation.
- Mill, bore, clean, and turn parts,
- Deburr, sand, or grind sharp and/or uneven edges from cut parts.
- Move finished parts to next fabrication, or staging point.
- Make continuous quality checks to ensure parts are cut to exact specifications.
- Other duties, as assigned by Fabrication Leadership.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS & WORK ENVIRONMENT
- Must be capable of standing for entire shift and sit for extended periods of time.
- Able to lift up to 50 lbs; ability to demonstrate full range of motion for reaching, bending, kneeling and stooping.
- Will be exposed to extreme heat and cold depending on weather.
- Subject to dirt, dust, oil, welding fumes, electric shock, bright lights, UV radiation, burns, traffic hazards, and high noise levels in the workplace.
PPE REQUIREMENTS
- Steel-toed shoes or composite shoes
- Safety glasses
- Earplugs
- Gloves when handling any material
- Grinding shield
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Must be able to read, write, count, communicate by various channels.
- Must have appropriate high school, vocational-technology school, or demonstrated ability/expertise from on-the-job training from previous employment.
- Ability to read a tape measure.
- Ability to read and fully comprehend work instructions, prints, and work specifications.
