BWT’s Welding & Associates Inc. is an established commercial and industrial steel fabricator which has established long term relationships with clients, suppliers and associate vendors. With a portfolio of projects that span the U.S., we specialize in furnishing a comprehensive structural and miscellaneous steel scope of work for oil, gas, industrial and commercial construction.
We are looking for a highly skilled Project Manager with a desire to work for a rapidly growing and fast paced steel fabricator. This position will engage in all phases of project management and will support exclusive key clients.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Development of cost estimates of assigned projects
- Serve as primary contact and communication link between Company and customer
- Ensures project meets cost requirements and meets with project management team to overcome challenges in order to mitigate excess costs
- Assist production team to ensure that the project is constructed in accordance with the contract requirements and specifications and with our required quality standard
- Development of monthly job status reports and participate in the preparations of the cost analysis worksheet
- Leads discussion with team members to review scheduling, material and production obligations
- Possess working knowledge of all project plans, specifications, and contacts with client(s), purchase orders, daily correspondence, shop drawings, submittals, and all other project related documents, and maintain a complete and accurate set of shop drawings
- Prepare change order proposals, negotiate, issue and execute change orders to subcontractors and others and prepare revisions to the master cost breakdown as a result of change orders and management revisions
- Document potential schedule delays, promptly notify team members and submit request for extension of time and/or additional costs as per terms of the contract
- Monitor delivery of materials; expedite as needed
- Travel when necessary to installation sites to oversee the installation and/or to quality check the installation
- Frequent interface with clients to establish new relationships, and/or foster on-going relationships
- Ability to manage and address unique demands and requirements for steel fabrication in multiple applications
Qualifications:
- BS or BA in architecture, construction management, or Structural/Civil engineering required (or equivalent related combination of training and experience)
- 3-5 years project management, including estimating experience, cost control and/or engineering experience
- Project management experience in steel fabrication is preferred
- Experience in fast paced environment
- Thorough knowledge of estimating techniques, engineering disciplines and cost control processes
- Must be able to read blueprints and specifications to determine time frames, funding, allotment of resources, trouble shoot problems and propose solutions
- Demonstrate verbal and written communication skills to facilitate project team and client meetings as required
- Demonstrated planning experience showing good judgement and critical thinking with the ability to lead and/or be part of a large project as required
- Must have experience in managing and estimating multiple projects, writing RFI’s, detailers, change orders, submittals, pay applications and material requirements
- Excellent computer skills including MS Suite, Excel, Word, Outlook, Revu and BlueBeam
- Fabsuite/Tekla EPM knowledge is a plus
